I only wish that we could have stayed longer with Steve. He was incredibly welcoming and warm. He made sure we got a great tour and a feel for the community right when we arrived. He really went above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time, and we'll definitely be contacting him again when we can spend a little more time in Ketchikan.

(in English and Spanish) ENG: Our stay in Steve`s house was a wonderful experience, not only because of the fact the we were living in his house and met his lovely family, but Steve also is a great and kind host. He picked us up to the ferry, even when we arrived with a lot of delay, he cooked for us, took us for a walk to the surroundings and if you like you can mantain interesting conversations about Ketchikan and other subjects. The house is very well located, near the docks and Creek Street. Our room was clean and quiet and we could have our privacy, even cook privately, only sharing the bathroom. But you can get out and be with them if you want. Keep in mind that you are in a house, living with a family that will treat you as one of them and you will love the experience of visit to that city! We will recommend Steve`s place without any doubt and we would come back there if we travel to Ketchikan again Thanks Steve, we spent a great time!

This is my 2nd time with Steve and it was just as great as the first. He picked me up at the airport and I immediately felt right at home. Steve is warm, thoughtful, charming, and down to earth. My pseudo big brother :-)

Steve was a great and generous host. Picked me up at the ferry and a ride back to the airport. Even cooked me a delicious meal. The room was exactly as described. Very spacious. The bathroom was newly remodeled and very clean.

Our host, Steve, was very helpful in helping us arrange our travel plans for the following week, and providing us with a very good tour of Ketchikan and transportation whenever we needed it. He is very knowledgeable and knows everyone in town! Unfortunately for us, the bathroom was under construction for our 2 days, but there were .alternate shower and commode accessable. We liked Steve a lot but the place itself rates a C.

Response from Steve:
Thanks for the kind words Arthur, I know it was a construction zone fixing up the bathroom, that made dust and a mess everywhere, I know that your personal room was very clean, and I'm glad you enjoyed the other aspects of staying with us. Come again, bathroom is done now, new shower, sink, mirror, etc. Glad to have met you guys all the best Steve

My wife of 30 years and I began in the same neighborhood on the north side of Chicago.
After attending the U of O in Eugene Or. We came to Ketchikan just to work for a summer. To make a long story short, we stayed had 4 kids all raised in Ketchikan, I began working on the Alaska marine highway in 1982, and ended up with 31 rental units. I also run a small gift and snack stand next to the building “Your own apartment” is in.
I grew up traveling a lot with my family, also did a semester at sea with world campus afloat, that made port in 6 African countries, and 7 from SE Asia to N. Asia.
I work out 5 days a week at our local Rec center, it’s just minutes away-- your welcome to join me, I’m an amateur guitar player, a little flamenco, and improvisations, have studied Sitar, and fool around with a Turkish Saz. I love to cook, it’s a passion, and I cook, or make breads, Mediterranean salads, soups, sushi, etc. every day.
I’m a people person and always had people jobs, as a second steward on the Ferry I looked after the needs of passengers and fellow shipmates, as a land Lord I deal with many people helping them work out logistics and “Life” issues, as a gift stand owner of course I’m selling, but I enjoy many conversations a day with visitors to Ketchikan, weather they arrive by Cruise ship, ferry, or Alaska airline,
I love hearing other people’s stories, experiences, advice, and I’m waiting here to give you my 33 years of experience of living in Ketchikan, so together we can make sure you maximize your time, and experience.
Red wine, single malt Scotch, vegetarian meals, yoga, fusion of Middle east, Indian, with Blues, or Jazz music, good conversation, learning, engaging my mind, they’re all a part of me.
