Located in beautiful Lahania, a quiet, traditional Greek village with superb views out to the sea from from bedroom terrace. Plus you benefit from your own chlorine free pool to cool off in so it really is too good an opportunity to miss!
Nestled on the edge of the quiet, peaceful village of Lahania. Villa Helidonis is truly a retreat of great charm and character. Set in a walled and landscaped garden, is a sparkling private pool, surrounded by comfortable loungers and an outdoor seating area for al fresco dining.
This house stands close by Villa Meltemi, so when both are free and you have a large group of 8, 9 or even 10 people there's the possiblity to rent both villas.
When you open the large wooden doors set in the high walls around the whole property, you enter the large patio with its swimming pool, sun loungers, garden, and dining area. From here you enter the house into the open plan living room and kitchen which is great for socialising while you cook. It's very much a home from home, with comfortable couch and well-equipped kitchen.
If you need extra bed space, the couch has a pull out bed for two people so the house is really capable of sleeping six people in total.
There is a bathroom with shower, washbasin and WC in the hall, just off of the kitchen, along with a downstairs bedroom offering two single beds. The stairs to the first floor are accessed via the kitchen/living room. Here you will find a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. You can wake up in the morning and head out onto the balcony leading off of the bedroom to take in the beautiful views of the sea, the valley and the village.
The house is fully surrounded by its own grounds enclosed by high walls so privacy is guaranteed. The pool is with water that contains no chlorine but is cleaned with a different system, so isn't bad for your health. There are four comfortable sun loungers next to the pool with a big umbrella for shade and a shower to clean up before and after swimming. There's a pergola over the dining area, protecting you from the sun should you wish to enjoy lunch or dinner outside.
Lahania lies in the south east coast of Rhodes Island and is far away from and has nothing to do with the hurly burly tourist package destinations. The distance to the city of Rhodes is about 70 kilometers. By car it is about a 1 1/2 hours drive and by taxi it is about one hour, which would cost about 60 euros. Lahania, like Koskinou, is built on a hill with valleys and a river on the side and mountains at the back. Around Lahania there are beautiful, natural areas, meadows and lots of olive yards. To walk around Lahania is very inspiring and one can feel and breath all the clean air and look at all the beautiful wild vegetation on the sides of the road and in the meadows. Being in Lahania relaxes most people that can appreciate nature, silence and authenticity. The distance to the beach is about 2/3 km. You can easily walk there since the walk is down hills, but going back is a bit of a heavier walk, which is very doable but only outside the hottest months of July and August.
guests will have sole and private access to the whole house and premises. nothing is shared with other guests.
Other things to note
The pool has chlorine free water filtration system and is cleaned weekly.
Please have respect for this home that we provide you, and leave it in a normal respectful way.
We have siesta time in Greece as in most mediterranean countries, which is between 14:30 and 17:30. We do urge our guests to respect this resting time, so as to have respect to the country and it's working people that are sharing their treasures with you. so please during these hours, keep children inside, go to the beach or city, and keep your voices low outside.
thank you for being considerate.
I am Gudrun Wilsterman. I have lived in greece over the past 12 years where i met my ex-husband and got 2 children 11 and 12. My ex was always building houses, renovating them, and selling them, and the logic step was for me to rent out the ones that we preferred to keep or didn't sell. I really liked doing this, so I made a profession out of it. My fiancé, Micah, is from the UK and he is helping me with the renting and the technical and organisational aspects of it all. He is an electricien, and good in plumbing, wood work, and all sort of technical stuff that i don't even want to think about. He loves fixing things, and he had a hotel himself in the past, which he loved, as well as being in hospitality.
What i offer are not houses, but homes. I want people to come back after a day exploring the beautiful island and to feel they are going back to their homes. That is my biggest aim. They need to feel comfortable, feel being in a cozy environment, and i will do anything for them to arrive at the house for the first time and say 'wowww, this is great, even better than the pictures'. That's what gives me the drive to work hard, and make my guests feel comfortable and welcome.
I believe all of this is achieved best if i leave my guest to be as independant as possible, and not get into his home initially. I will be at the back ground, always reachable when necessary, but i hate intruding, so if you do expect me to come for a coffee or a chat, please notify me. I am too shy to initiate so myself, and will never take that first step, but if you appreciate it, then i will pass by. But remember: it's your home for as long as you stay, not mine!!
I do hope to be able to welcome you soon in your holiday home!!
