Everything as described, great stay

This review pertains more to the property rather than the property's owners. I only met an owner a few weeks before I checked out from my 4 month stay. I had to meet current guests at a bar to get a key to move in for check in. Pros: The closet is nicely sized. The washer and dryer in unit is very useful 17 streets from Costco Cons: There were rats. Myself and other roommates mainly saw them in the kitchen. Rat traps were already in the apartment so I believe this has been an ongoing issue. There were cockroaches. Part of the apartment is in the basement, and one room has a door that opens up to where all the trash is collected, so I believe this plays a part of the pest problem. It was not uncommon to have no hot water in the mornings, making showering impossible. The hammer pipe issue is mentioned in the description, but I underestimated it. During the winter months, I typically woke up twice a night due to what sounded like a hammer hitting an anvil repeatedly behind my head. I am a relatively heavy sleeper. This issue got better as the temperature started warming up in late April The walk to the 6 train is slightly inconvenient, especially during the winter. The neighborhood is filthy for New York standards. Animal defecation littered the sidewalks. If I had a daughter in her 20's, I would not allow her to live in this neighborhood. The kitchen can get quite cramped when 6 people are trying to use it and store food. You will be buying all the supplies you need: Toilet paper, paper towels, etc. A guest had to move out due to a health issue caused by mold in her room. That problem has since been fixed. The description states it is 15 minutes to grand central, but it is actually 30 minutes to get there. Upstairs residents seem to have kids who are often running loudly. The apartment is not "exciting and right in the middle of it all" There is no dining room table. There is a coffee table in front of the couch. Value: My rent went up around $100 a month right before I moved in, because apparently the price was listed incorrectly on Airbnb. In my opinion, you can find a nicer apartment in a much nicer location for around the same price. If not, I highly recommend not trying to save money by living here, and living somewhere else. You will enjoy living in NYC 10x more in a better location.

Yohan was great and very attentive. The room was truly the best value I could find. But, try to get a room upstairs if you want air conditioning. Thank you Yohan!
