As this was our first Airbnb experience, it could not have been better. :-) Marline is a wonderful host, she is very friendly, considerate and an amazing chef. On my first day she showed me around her farm and introduced me to her friends and neighbours. Everybody is very nice around here. The room looks even nicer than on the picture, the beds are comfortable and the view from the balcony/rooftop is awesome. The kitchen is well-equipped, besides cooking pots, essentials (spices, oil, ...) and a huge fridge you will also find a coffee machine and fresh roasted coffee beans, a water filter machine as well as a toaster. What made us very happy too: A nice soundsystem, where you can listen to radio, cds or just input your device for some nice music.
Furthermore, Marline responds to requests/bookings really fast. So if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask her. She lives 1 minute from the guesthouse away and also sells ice to the school children, so you are not far away from a little refreshment.
We went from Kingston (450J$/person) via Port Antonio (250J$) with the route taxi all up the hill, the journey was straight forward and we got off just in front of Marline's guesthouse. We called Marline in Port Antonio and she told the driver where to go exactly, so it was very easy. It is also possible that Marline arranges private transport to a good price. Her lovely friend Wolsey has a special vehicle, you have to take - at least a short - ride with at some point, I have never seen before something like that. ;-)
My friend and me wanted to stay for 2 nights, but were are staying 4 because we are so satisfied. If we would have more time, we would even stay longer ;-) We will miss our new friend Marline as well as the other nice people we met, just to name a few: Cool Tamara and her smart daughter Brenda, kind Wolsey and always smiling Shadow Man.
We hope we can come back to Rural Hill. It is a very special place in Jamaica with very special people. Highly recommended by two young people who have seen quite a lot of Jamaica and the rest of the world. :-)
