4th fllor walkup! Greeted by garbage at front of apt! Door open with noone inside! Overheated , loud and smelly when open windows! Otherwise, New York is an abosolutely beautiful place to visit, just stay somewhere else in order to avoid dissapointments

Response from Tracy:
Yes, indeed the apartment is located in a typical New York City walk-up building. Although the address is apt 4, it is only 3 short flights up because the ground floor is the first floor. Diana, with all do respect, you are over the age of 60. In over 4 years of consistently hosting, I have had only one other guest, a couple in fact, who were over 46 years of age (they were in their 70's). Before booking their stay with me, they were sensible enough to inquire about whether there was a lift as well as how many flights of stairs they might need climb. Anyhow, thankfully this was no issue at all for them and they had a very lovely stay! In contrast, you requested to book your stay without contacting me first. This is rarely an issue, but in your case, asking a few questions before committing to a home might be beneficial for both you and the host. I left a bag of rags, paper towels as well as other non perishables (from cleaning) just outside the apartment, which was there when you arrived. As I informed you weeks ago, this is where the bag is left so that the buildings caretaker can pick it up later that day or the next morning. I pride myself on maintaining a super clean and organized home, which is why I spent the entire day cleaning the apartment for your arrival, as I do for every guest. You were due to arrive to the apartment that very evening so just before I left, I decided to leave the apartment door unlocked for you so that after a long trip over the Atlantic, you would not have to be burdened with unlocking the door and could easily enter and finally relax. Also, this speaks volumes for the overall safety of the neighborhood and building. A typical New York City rental building will control the heating system during the cold months. Again, I apologize for the temperature not being to your satisfaction -- in my opinion, it is a relief to have a nice cozy building, especially now since we are moving closer into winter temperatures. If the apartment is too warm, I open a window to allow some lovely fresh air. I believe I had thoroughly addressed all of your concerns during your stay, but I am happy to clarify these and any additional questions or concerns you might have. Diana, it is unfortunate that you were so displeased with my home. You mentioned several times that you have been a guest many times, in multiple countries etc. Since being an Airbnb member, about 2.5 years, out of all of the homes you have stayed in, only one host has referred you. Given the extraordinary difficulty I experienced with having you as a guest, I believe that perhaps you are simply impossible to please. In over 4 years of consistently hosting, this was my first experience of hosting an unpleasant, dissatisfied and unruly guest. Regardless, I wish you well. Cheers Tracy

I have stayed for a month in Tracy's place. Tracy is very talkative and always a counsellor for any travellers coming to see NYC. Tracy keeps the house very clean. Times sq is just 2 stations on metro line, which is easy to reach and very convenient.

Tracy's apartment is great and a really good base if you're visiting NYC. I stayed for 4 weeks and felt at home in the flat. It's close to many cafes, restaurants and shops but it still is quiet and peaceful at night. It's also a short walk from the 72nd street subway station, wh…
