The space

The Unique · 3 Bedrooms & 2 Bathrooms with round bathtub. It is located at Eixample Esquerre area.

This 120sqm apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms has been recently renovated and full equipped for your comfortable stay in Barcelona. The building has the typical architecture from the widening of Barcelona in the early 1900's; that's why the apartment has lots of details from that time, as the modernist hydraulic ceramic floors, very high ceilings (4-5mts), the fireplace - which is currently only as decoration -, some furniture and a modernist stained window; several things have been kept as they were originally in order to retain the charming of this impressive apartment.

The apartment located in Eixample esquerre, 5 min walking distance from Plaça d'España where you can find The Magic fountain of Montjuïc, The Palau Mies van der Rohe, Poble Español, Fundació Miró, The National Museum of Catalonia... Most of those places you can get there by walk 10-12 min from the apartment.

Plaça Catalunya and the famous Las Ramblas are just 18-20 min walking distance from the apartment, but you can also get there in less than 10 min by subway. The nearest metro station is just 1 street away from the apartment (L1 - Rocafort Station)

You can also get to Sagrada Familia by subway in 20 min, or Parc Güell (which is quite far away from the city center) in 40 min also by metro.

The neighborhood is SAFE, surrounded of supermarkets, pharmacies, shops, bakeries, and very good restaurants: You are going to feel the "real" Barcelona ;)

Joan is a very friendly host. He helped us with luggage and offered lots of useful info about the area. There was completely nothing to snack on, the refrigerator was empty, there was no water either. I know it's not a must but it offers a nice personal touch. There's a smell in one of the bathrooms that probably comes out of old pipes. So, I guess it depends on how sensitive you are. It may not bother you, but it's not something you can vent out. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay. Lots of places to eat just around the corner.

Excellent customer support in terms of check in and activities booklet and all other information was provided. Joan always replied fast and did everything to make us feel at home. The only down side was that this apartment is very dark and has no view or natural light, other than that it was good. Also there was a problem with the toilet but Joan made sure he would fix it. Overall a very good apartment.

Joan was the perfect host - available, friendly, honest, responsive, and service-oriented. We stayed in this home for one full week and it was the perfect base from which to discover Barcelona. The apartment was very clean and had air conditioning that really cooled the whole place down quickly. It was attractive and comfortable with two full bathrooms and a laundry room with a good washer AND dryer - quite a treat that makes it much easier to pack because you can launder your clothes easily. The neighborhood seems very residential, which allows for a quieter entry point, but right around each corner you'll find cafe's, stores, bars, and great local businesses. We visited all of the touristy parts of town and were very happy that we were NOT staying in the louder (party-centric) parts of town - but were close enough the the Metro to get anywhere fast. Public transportation is very easy in Barcelona and we used it often, finding it soooo much better than Boston! And having large public receptacles for household trash and recycling on most street corners was awesome and prevented things from piling up in the apartment! A pharmacy was only a few blocks away as well, which came in handy when one of us got a stomach bug. We especially liked that people who lived and worked in the neighborhood were not only catering to tourists and that many people did NOT speak English, so we had to fend for ourselves to communicate is Spanish or Catalan. - The way it should be! The apartment was also 100% smoke-free which we really appreciated because we do not smoke and found the constant smoking in the city to be surprising and not very pleasant. Being able to go home to an apartment where the air was clean, was a relief! Joan arranged for someone to pick us up at the airport and to get us back to the airport at the end of our trip. He checked in to see if we were happy or needed anything, but was otherwise only there if we needed him, so it really felt like our place. I would strongly recommend this apartment to families, couples, and groups of friends looking for a wonderful Barcelona home-base!!!! The only thing I would recommend is doing some homework in advance on the rich history of the city because we were very curious about the campaign to separate Catalonia from Spain, but did not know as much as we could have going in. Clearly this is an interesting time for the region with an October 2017 referendum looming. It would have been interesting to learn more from locals about their opinions. The last thing to note is to commend the people of Barcelona for leveraging its 1992 Olympics to make their city a place where visitors from around the world would be wanting to come for decades. From the beaches to the cultural area, the the public transportation - the city...
