About this listing

The Servants Quarters are located directly behind the old Manor. It has a full kitchen, fridge, queen bed, small evap cooler, oven, TV, couch & bathroom. (There is studio unit next door that can be booked separately, it also accommodates 2 people).

The space

The Yarra Valley mansion, the first homestead in the Yarra Valley region was built over 110 years ago and covered a sprawling 4000 acres.

The Servants Quarters is a stand alone building & sits directly behind the historic 120 year old manor. It has a Queen size bed, full kitchen with fridge, oven & microwave, couch, bathroom with shower, DVD player & television.

The second bedroom can be used if guests book for more than two people. It is separate to the villa (accessed via a 10 meter outdoor walk). It has an open fireplace, two single beds and a small kitchen with sink, microwave and fridge. Guest staying the the second bedroom need to use the bathroom in the Villa.

The estate had it's own bridge across the Yarra River and many buildings dotted the grounds. Some of the original buildings were destroyed by fire but the ‘Millgrove Mansion’ (as it is referred to by the locals) was untouched. The Servants Quarters, a long building with quirky and unique rooms still remains, along with the Old Barn, the ‘Firehouse,’ and the hidden spook cellar.

Things to do: The Yarra River, hiking and walking tracks that cover the area, the Upper Yarra Reservoir & Picnic Area, walk or ride the O'Shannessy Aqueduct Trail, cycle the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail, go to the Mountains - Mount Donna Buang Mountain range on our doorstep, quirky cafes and weekend markets, great cycling roads and paths, peace and quiet, wineries, golf and more.
(Not having to listen to other guests in the same building is a bonus!)

Busses run regularly 400 meters from our property. They are very easy to ride (we can point out the bus stop that sits beside the Yarra River).

We had a great stay at Sam's place. Was a lovely little cabin in a great location. Would certainly stay again.

I got upgraded and I stayed at the Manor Villa where I had the whole floor with a private entrance to myself, very comfortable and cosy accommodation. Shanna was a great host and I felt at home in the house, there is everything you might need while traveling. The place is quiet and charming and I spent the week walking the hills around Millgrove and Warburton (Sam and Shanna provide an extensive guidebook - I recommend the O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, just being in the woods around there is so special). I used the local bus (a bus stop is just a few minutes from the Manor) most of the time but it would be better with a car.

We were unexpectedly upgraded, which was a lovely surprise. The manor house was comfortable and rather luxurious. The space is very large and the beautiful bathroom was a nice bonus. The area is ideal, situated close to shops as well as the national park. Would recommend staying here.

Such a quirky little hut! The place is small but nice for a couple to stay. Sam provided everything that you need for chilly winter, the heater and extra doona will keep you warm. The place is just at the back of the host's house and it's not too hard to find. Check in and check out was easy and no hassle too :)

Hi!
We recently moved out to the Yarra Valley for a more peaceful and quiet life amidst the trees, mountains and rivers.
We have a one year old boy and both work part time in marketing and public relations.
We love to ride bikes on the trails and roads here in the countryside and up the mountains.
