We stayed at Umah Villa for four nights and had a fantastic stay. Ngakan was a very welcoming host, who did everything he could to ensure our stay in Ubud was perfect. His wife & sister provided us with delicious Balinese breakfasts each morning, and we also had dinners cooked by them a couple of nights. The food was amazing, best banana pancakes we've ever had!! Ngakan also showed us around Ubud and took us to places that were off the usual tourist trail. It was fantastic having his local knowledge about places to go, and also the story behind them. When my daughter expressed an interest to see his house he very kindly invited us to see it. It was an amazing experience for my daughters to see a typical Balinese home and compound. The villa is exactly as discribed and was cleaned daily. The pool was clean, and perfect for our two daughters (aged 7 & 10) who were in there from 7am every day. Ngakan even provided the girls with pool toys which they loved. The villa has paddy fields on three sides and the garden is very private and beautifully maintained. The layout of the villa would ideally suit friends travelling together and families with older children, as the bedrooms are all separate with their own ensuite. It is a bit further out with very little traffic noise so is ideal for people wanting to relax. Ngakan was more than happy to drive us when we wanted to go out so we didn't find the location to be an issue. And at the end of it all, my husband left his shirt in the wardrobe and Ngakan drove all the way to Canggu to drop it off to us!! Thank you Ngaken and Jro for a wonderful holiday, we would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, and will definitely be back!

The villa is set amongst the rice paddies, far enough away from the busy streets of Ubud to relax but only 10 minutes away from the town if you want to go shopping, eat dinner or see the sites. Ngakan is an excellent host, and along with his wife and sister, ensure that you feel welcome during you stay. Breakfast is great, and I would recommend you have at least one meal cooked by them- the food is excellent and provides an authentic Balinese meal. The villa is located in a small village and wandering around gives a true feeling of Bali. The villa has 3 seperate ensuite rooms, great for families or couples. Ngakan organises airport transfers, motorbike hire, trips such as white water rafting and we also booked him as a tour guide around the temples and market! If you are currently trying to decide where to stay in Ubud, I would defiantly recommend that you stay here!

Thank you pak Ngakan for hosting my family in your very beautiful and unforgettable villa. A villa with 3 bedroom and private pool in the middle of rice paddy field and peaceful surrounding. We love the view from the window at the room, beautiful view when sunrise from the balcone above the room. Your villa was clean, full equipment that can provide everthing that we need during our stay. My mother keep talking about how kind and warm you are and it feel like home staying at your villa. Your villa was perfectly recommended to family or group that want to stay in Ubud. Thanks pak Ngakan. I hope can be back next time.

What an amazing place! We loved the Villa and the surroundings. Such a beautiful setting, we didn't want to leave. The breakfast provided by Ngakan and his family was wonderful. Ngakan also drove us around Ubud, taught us so much about his country and culture and made us feel right at home. I would definitely recommend staying at Umah Bali Villa!

I was instantly taken in by the beautiful pics of the Umah Bali villa and also the positive reviews, and booked it without much thought. And what a great choice it turned out to be! We are glad that we stayed with a real local host, Ngakan, who has worked his way up and runs the place with all his heart (and his hands- he cooks, cleans, drives the guest around!). We spent a considerable amount of time in his company, and he was always courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. He picked us up the airport, took us around for all our sightseeing trips and dropped us back on the last day, the phone in the villa is a great way to reach him and he is always around to help with anything his guests might need. The villa is surely one of the most serene accommodations i have stayed in , the greenery that surrounds the place is a true feast for the eye. We visited end August, and the weather was surprisingly cool and at times even 'cold' (by our South East Asian standards). The paddy fields had just been replanted and the water in them kept the temperature down. The villa is as beautiful as it is in the pics, if not more. All the rooms are tastefully furnished, and spotlessly clean. The only area which i found a bit lacking in cleanliness was the kitchen, it did not pass by exacting standards :) The pool, the sunbeds and sandbags together form the piece de resistance of the place and one can easily spend hours lounging on/around them. We also enjoyed sitting at the dining area and watching the day go by. The inclusive breakfast cooked by Ngakan's wife and another helper was yummy and sufficient to kick start the day. We particularly enjoyed the mixed fruit bowl and the banana coconut pancakes. We didn't avail their cooking service for dinner, but i am sure it would have been good too. Ngakan helped us arrange for in-villa massage for 2 evenings, and it was such a bliss! Our sightseeing trips were a breeze, thanks to Ngakan's efficient service and good suggestions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay (my 5 year old son, loved the box of Jenga blocks at the villa, and spent most of his time building and toppling towers!) Too bad that it was a short stay, but we would definitely love to go back and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Ubud (especially as a family with elders and kids, as it was in our case).

The villa is located in a tranquil part of Bali with beautiful views over rice terraces. Pak Ngakan and his wife Ibu Jero were wonderful hosts and we were made to feel very welcome and part of the family. They are very knowledgeable about the local area and Balanese culture in general having lived on the island all their lives. This allowed us to develop a deeper understanding of the place we were visiting and the lives of local people. Breakfast was great and Ibu Ayu catered for the various preferences of three rather particular children! We also had several excellent evening meals at the villa which were available at IDR 100,000 per head (half price for kids). This authentic Balanese food was much better value than the various restaurants we ate in and I would thoroughly recommend this to other visitors. Pak Ngakan provides a tour service together with his driver Pak Kanthu who was also very helpful and Ngakan got us an excellent price for white water rafting (a must if staying in Ubud). Highly recommended.

Great villa in the middle of rice fields. Very quiet location. Quite far from town (15min drive), but Ngakan is driving you everywhere you want! Very nice service, flexible, welcoming, much appreciated. Breakfast every morning was also a nice surprise.

I have been working as a professional tour guide and driver for more than 20 years. Meeting new people and sharing my knowledge about culture is interest me the most. I enjoy art too especially paintings as i worked for Neka Museum on my early age.
