This is a large suite in a beautiful setting with pool and stunning views over Sydney waterfront rainforest.

Enjoy hotel-style amenities, rainforest surrounds and private bath only 6.5kms to the CBD with a city bus at the door.

As well as a big bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms with shower, guests have their own separate kitchen and sitting room. It's like a mini-hotel.

This room is labelled 'Poolside Room' on the floor plan.

The space

Awake to birdsong, rainforest views and breakfast by the pool. The space is self-contained and gorgeous with private guests' sitting room and guests' kitchen, BBQ, multiple outdoor lounging and dining areas and a huge rainforest garden to explore.

This rainforest retreat is in the lower part of a house built into the hillside on the shores of Sydney harbour in 1968. The space is cool in summer and warm in winter. This listing is for the bedroom labelled 'Poolside Room' on the floor plan.

This bedroom has a large ensuite bathroom with shower, queen bed with high quality linens, work desk with task lighting and plenty of space for your clothes.

Your sitting room leads onto a covered lounging and dining area and then to the pool, sunny lounging area and down to the rainforest with tiered sunning and meditation decks and treehouse. From there it leads directly to a park on the Sydney Harbour foreshore.

I like to create lovely spaces for humans that deliver peace, comfort, privacy, efficiency and a sense of fun. With this in mind, I've stocked the scrupulously clean room with high quality linens, generous toiletries and endless supplies of towels.

Greenwich is a hidden gem of Sydney. It's close to the city and even closer to the restaurant districts of Lane Cove and Crows Nest. Because it's a harbourside suburb, and this is Sydney, the terrain is hilly and quite steep in parts and the views are breathtaking.

The suburb has wonderful urban green, pretension-free, harbourside vibe. It's a great place for hiking, sailing and kayaking. If golf's your thing, there's a public golf course just up the road. An absolute must-see is the iconic Greenwich baths, one of the few remaining Sydney Harbour public swimming baths. There's nothing like it on the planet.

It you love to work your muscles, there are many parks with outdoor training facilities (the best is at the bottom of my garden), tennis courts for hire, an aquatic centre in Lane Cove, all this with great transport links to the CBD for the business traveller. What's not to like? There's a reason that most who move to Greenwich tend to trade up and stay in the vicinity rather than moves to other parts of Sydney.

Greenwich has a crime rate well below the Sydney average. It's a suburb where kids still walk to school, which makes it the perfect suburb to enjoy as a family or, for the business traveller, as a calming haven close to the CBD at the end of your working day.

We have a stop for a bus travelling to the centre of Sydney at the front of the house, buses which travel up and down the nearby Pacific Highway on their way to the Sydney centre, airport, north west, northern beaches and eastern suburbs, two train stations and two ferry wharves with services to the city and Parramatta to choose from. With so much choice it gets confusing, so I advise guests to download any of the many local public transport apps to use during their stay.

Our house is one of only five in Greenwich that has direct access to the Sydney Harbour foreshore and is also on the main bus route (Route 261) to the centre of Sydney. The bus stop is less than 100m away and the bus travels to the very centre of Sydney's CBD.

We are within walking distance of St Leonards and Wollstonecraft train stations. St Leonards is a main transport hub and trains from here run to most parts of Sydney including Macquarie University. Buses from St Leonards run to the city, the northwest and also the northern beaches and Manly.

There are two ferry services in Greenwich - a private ferry, which is a 15 min walk and runs on a business commuter friendly timetable, or the public ferry from Greenwich Wharf, which is a longer (but very beautiful) 30 min walk or a 5 min bus ride (Route 265).

On the weekends, the last 265 bus to Greenwich Wharf leaves from St Vincent's road, which is around 200m away, at 6.05pm on a Saturday. There is no 265 or 261 bus service on Sunday. However, there are still plenty of buses to the city and other areas available on the Pacific Highway, a short walk away.

The public ferry will take you to Birchgrove in 3 mins and the main Sydney CBD ferry wharf in 25 mins.

The 261 travelling away from the City will take you to Lane Cove, which is a main bus transfer hub and from where you can catch buses to many parts of Sydney. On Saturdays the last 261 bus from Greenwich to the city centre departs at 5.20pm. However, it runs past my house to Lane Cove at 6.35pm and from Lane Cove there are many buses to the city and a taxi rank. There is no 261 service on Sundays and a different timetable applies over Xmas and New Year.

The walk from our house to either of the train stations and to the highway for buses other than the 265 or 261 involves a steep hill and isn't suitable for anyone with impaired mobility.

SAFETY
We have the usual household safety measures; window locks, electrical safety switches on all switchboards including outdoor lighting, approved child safe pool fence, self-closing doors with 1.5m handles for all doors to the pool area, smoke and CO2 detectors in all rooms, temperature limiter on hot water, non-slip safety mats under rugs and fire extinguishers and fire blanket. However, we don't have a stair gate to upstairs, the cupboards aren't lockable and there are still a million ways for a small unsupervised child or a very stupid adult to injure themselves.

The back yard is made up of stairs and decks which can get slippery when it rains and require careful navigation using the additional lighting supplied if going down there at night. Once you reach the southern boundary of the boardwalk and step off into the bush trail it is steep and can be very, very slippery after rain. Do not attempt this in ordinary leather-soled shoes.

The driveway has a steep downhill approach to the house. It has a non-slip coating and we try to keep it as debris free as possible. However, be careful and watch where you are going at all times.

FOOD
Breakfast supplies and tea and coffee are included in your rate. Please let me know if there is anything 'weird' you'd like - eg almond milk, gluten free bread, decaf-coffee etc I'm happy to cater to vegans and other hardcore food fetishists, but I won't know if you don't tell me.

I provide snacks and fruit in the kitchen for you to nibble on while you're here. They aren't meant to be a substitute for meals and are to be consumed on-site. Please don't use them to load up your backpack to fuel your day.

I do have 'emergency' rations of tuna, baked beans, pasta, pasta source, noodles etc in your kitchen. I do this because sometimes you just can't get out or your flight was late in or you're not feeling 100% and I am a nice person. But they are for these types of situations, not for everyday use. Please don't abuse the system.

PETS & WILDLIFE
We have two cats, George and Denny, who have enough sense to stay away from the guest area unless you welcome them. They don't 'hang out' in the downstairs area, so the rooms are quite safe for anyone with a cat allergy.

We live in a nature reserve so you might encounter a small furry creature or a reptile you haven't seen before. They are mostly all benign and much more scared of you than you should be of them. You'll definitely hear and see some amazing birdlife. BTW, since everyone asks, I've never seen a snake on the property.

Guest access

Guests have access to private sitting room with Foxtel IQ , a guest-only kitchen, solar-heated swimming pool, BBQ area with large Weber gas BBQ and a range of interesting and comfy outdoor dining and lounging areas with stunning views of the Sydney Harbour foreshore rainforest.

There's also parking for one guest car on the property and free street parking. The on-site guest parking is on a first-come, first served basis. We have three Airbnb suites, so if you want the parking spot, book early and let me know at the time of booking.

Interaction with guests

I'm looking forward to making your stay in Sydney memorable. I hope that I can use my years of experience as a business and luxury leisure traveller to make your stay comfortable, efficient and fun and help you experience an aspect of Sydney that tourists rarely see.

The guest area is downstairs and I live upstairs. I work full time and sometimes work from home. I'm happy to help you plan your time in Sydney over a glass of wine or a tea when I am available.

Other things to note

SECURITY - HOUSE ALARM AND VIDEO/AUDIO SURVEILLANCE
Alarm: The interior of the property is fitted with a back to base monitored alarm system. Instructions for the operation of this system are included in both the House Manual and the Arrival Directions. It is extremely simple. Please note that this system does not capture or record any visual or audio information, it simply detects motion.

Exterior Surveillance: There are 3 cameras covering the exterior of the property and 1 within the non-guest area of the property which record video and audio and store and upload to the cloud in real time. Note that tampering or removing these cameras will not prevent the information already recorded from being transmitted and stored. The actual location of all exterior cameras will be shown to you at check-in. There is no surveillance inside the listing nor in the backyard/pool area.

These cameras feature a two way audio feed, so I can speak to you, and you me via them if necessary.

SMOKING
Smoking is allowed in the designated smoking areas outside.

FAKE TAN - [ A substance so annoying it gets its own paragraph ]
Fake tanners rub off on towels and sheets. My towels and sheets are white. The dyes in fake tanning products do not wash out using ordinary washing temperatures and detergents and the chemicals and temperatures needed to shift them destroy sheets and towels, as well as wasting hours of time dealing with the mess. Sometimes fake tanners won't wash out at all. So, if you must dye yourself orange, please either bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels and use them instead of mine or be prepared to take the trashed items with you and be charged for replacements.

LINEN REPLACEMENT
Laundering and replacing linen more frequently than weekly during your stay will incur an additional fee of $25 per linen change.

Only toilet paper and human waste is to be flushed down the toilet.

Louise is a great host. We were very comfortable in her home, and the kitchen was really generously stocked for our breakfasts - and more. We would definitely recommend Louise's Airbnb.

Everything was perfect, easy to find house, and good car spot. The rainy evening made the pool by the rainforest setting especially lovely. The snack pantry and breakfast options were amazing. Louise gave me a tour of the house, and all three rooms are quirky! Cleanliness and attention to detail was impressive - thanks again. Will be back soon!

What an absolutely lovely place to stay! It is so peaceful and relaxing yet so close to the heart of Sydney. Louise accommodated us last minute and was just so nice, going above and beyond to provide great hospitality, even making sure there were snacks available. This was my first AirBnB experience and it was absolutely delightful.

louise is a very friendly and accomodating host . the place was as described and was very easy to get to the city from the bus stop out the front .all in all we had a lovely time staying with louise.

Response from Louise:
Thanks Mark. Just regarding your private feedback; the WiFi is always switched on and available 24/7. I wasn't aware you had any problem with this. Also, no doors or windows are ever left open when the house is vacant. It's always fully secured and both zones are alarmed, so again, not sure what the issue is here.

I’d like to say Louise is a good host and her house is superb in airb&b. I was impressed with the view which is more beautiful than pictures on the internet. The organized garden, comfy bedroom, clean bathroom, and various kinds of snacks and beverages, all of which could reflect that Louise tries her best to provide a wonderful experience to the guests coming from all over the world. She paid attention to every detail. For example, when we came back from the city centre in the first evening, she lighted candles in the living room. Therefore, We can find our way to bedroom easily. It was romantic and made us feel warm. What’s more, she allowed us to checkin in advance, as the last guests left early. It was really helpful to us. Louise’s house has a superb location, which is close to the nature and not far from a bus station. I strongly suggest u to go the house by bus or by taxi. As a guest, I hope u could obey the rule of this house, because it is worth for u to stay and u would have an unimaginable experience.

I love to create beautiful spaces for humans which delight and deliver peace, comfort, privacy and efficiency with a sense of fun. As a seasoned business traveller who's spent far too much time in hotels, I've developed an aversion to giant towels marinated in fabric softener, mean little shards of shrink-wrapped soap, toilet paper origami, shower gels that could degrease a sea otter, coat hangers that require Tetris-like manipulations to unleash their hanging power and bio-hazardous pillow shams. With this in mind, I've put a lot of thought into creating an accommodation experience that avoids inflicting these hospitality sins on my guests.
