The space

My historic teahouse, which was used for traditional tea ceremony until 2015, is arguably one of Kobe's most fascinating places to stay!
Furnished predominantly with antiques, it gives you the feeling of going back in time -- and you can even try your own tea ceremony as all utensils are still exhibited.
There are 2 rooms: one big living room (to be converted into the main bedroom when putting out the futons), and a smaller room close to the entrance. From both rooms you can independently enter the kitchen and bathroom/toilet (however, there are only sliding doors between the 2 rooms).
The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave with toaster function, gas stove for cooking, and kettle, and there are heaps of plates and cutlery.
The toilet and bathroom (shower) are separate.

Within 2 minutes walk, you have heaps of cheap shops (traditional Japanese streets with small shops), restaurants, bars, bakeries etc. There is even a 24h supermarket only 3 min away!
In under 5 min, you reach Kobe's cute Nada Onsen to relax (open 5 am to midnight!) and Kobe's most famous Kobe Beef restaurant, 大栄 (if you want, I can make a reservation for you!)

Enjoy the real Japanese lifestyle in my favourite area to explore in Kobe, and imagine yourself how the old Japan must have been =)

Guest access

You will have 2 bedrooms (one is the living room), a nice kitchen, a toilet, and a shower (on the patio).
Even when booking only for 1-2 people, you will use the whole house for yourself and can enjoy typical Japanese life.

Interaction with guests

I am always there to help, and I'm very happy to share my personal secrets on where to get the best Kobe beef, buy the cheapest (and cutest) souvenirs, and have a fun time in Kobe!

The neighbourhood

I love the quirky atmosphere of the neighbourhood. It's full of interesting, cheap shops (many of them antiques, second-hand and food) and a stroll around is one of the most existing things to do in Kobe, I think. People are very friendly and you can get a great idea of how ordinary Japanese people live.
The neighbourhood is safe, green and convenient, and the house itself is in a very quiet area with no cars. A nice river to relax is 3 min from the house, you will have loads of traditional shopping streets within 2 min walk, Kobe's nicest (and cheap!) onsen (hot spa) is 5 min away, and to the train station, you just walk straight for 8 min. Super easy, super nice!

Getting around

Oji-koen station on the Hankyu line (East exit) and JR Maya station are only a 8-10 min walk. To the very centre of Kobe, Sannomiya, it takes 4 min by train, so you're basically in the middle of town!

House Rules
No smoking
Check in is anytime after 3PM

I put a lot of love in this property, and some of the furniture and tea ceremony goods are very valuable. I'd love you to explore the house, open all drawers and touch the objects, but please handle them with care.

All, don't forget that your neighbours are not in their 20s and 30s anymore, so noise at night might not be too much appreciated. Thanks!

Truly a unique way to experience Kobe. Very traditional style Tea House with all the necessary modern-amenities. Very close to the city but located in a very quiet, local community. We were lucky to experience a parade on pur departure. If you're looking for a quiet retreat that is still located near the heart of Kobe, I highly recommend Anna's.

Anna's house was well maintained and cozy. We enjoyed the traditional way to stay in Japanese house, sitting on tatami, sleeping in futon. Anna is nice host and we appreciated her support during our stay.

The tea house is adorable and filled with antique furniture. The house is located a bit from the city centre, but in a very nice local area. The nearby onsen is excellent after a long day of sightseeing, it's cheap and truly a place where the locals go and not a tourist trap!

This is a great place for who wants to experience the traditional Japanese house. It was a bit small for a big group since we were 7, but Anna was very kind to let us stay and very helpful with the reservation. She is responsive and great with a clear instruction to the house. Definitely for a next stay, though with fewer people. Thank you Anna.

Excellent home in Kobe. Anna was an amazing and we were quite surprised about the accommodations. It's a little hard to find, if arriving at night, but Anna's instructions were very helpful as were some neighbors that happened to be on the street at the time of our arrival. There is a shopping market within a 1 minute walk from the house that is absolutely beautiful. The market and local shops don't open until about 10am at the earliest, so feel free to sleep in a little before exploring the area. Truly an enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend this house for groups of 4 or less.

The place was terrible as it was not cleaned before our arrival - rubbish from the last guests were around and clean bedsheets / pillow cases were not changed with a stack of used towels in the bathroom. There was shit stains on the toilet seats. It was a mess and definitely not suitable for anyone to stay there. It was not an excuse that she was not in Japan at that time. Anna offered us to stay at another place she had (it was late at night) and agreed to pay us for the taxi fare to there. We agreed to change place but then she denied our request for a reimbursement of the taxi fare. She is a terrible host and I think Airbnb should blacklist her.

I am a globetrotter who has settled down in Japan. I love Japan and its people and I want to give travellers from all over the world a chance to experience the traditional Japan and all its beauty (and delicious food!).

I love nature and hiking as well as exciting cities and great food, and in Kobe I have found the perfect place to live.

I look very much forward you the the welcoming and exciting, but also relaxing and soothing city of Kobe with sea, mountains and sake breweries.
