This rather quirky accommodation is in an old bakery/flour house. It is very cosy and comfortable and can sleep up to 4.

The space

(NB: The Old Bakery is located at the back of my office and although evenings and weekends guests have exclusive use of the entire property during office hours (i.e. Mon- Fri 9:30-5:30) I have access to the kitchen and downstairs cloakroom.)

This rather quirky accommodation is in an old bakery/flour house. It is very cosy and comfortable and can sleep up to 4.

The attic room has a double bed with Sheridan Egyptian cotton bed linen and an ensuite bathroom stocked with luxury toileteries and Christy towels and a large built-in wardrobe with plentiful supply of hangers.

Downstairs in the reception room there is a single day bed with a small single bed stored under which is suitable for a child/occasional use, a comfortable sofa, 42" Freeview TV and dvd player plus Wifi .

The kitchen is well equipped with gas cooker, microwave, coffee machine (please help yourself to complimentary tea and Nespresso!), fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, washing machine, tumble-dryer, iron etc and has a door to the private, quiet patio garden which is a real suntrap. There is also a useful 2nd WC off the kitchen.

Depending on your time of arrival, I will usually be around to welcome you, otherwise keys will be left in a keysafe by the front gate. I live about 20 mins away by car but am always contactable by phone.

THE LOCATION

Southfields is located between Wimbledon and Putney on the District Line and boasts a fantastic local community. Its tube station at the junction of Wimbledon Park Road and Replingham Road marks the heart of Southfields with its many great local shops including several delis, a butcher, grocer, florists, a specialist cake shop as well as tea and coffee shops, several hairdressers and beauticians, antique shops, banks and convenience stores.

'The Old Bakery' is situated in the heart of 'The Grid', probably the most sought after area of Southfields, with tree-lined streets and an abundance of period features, it is just a short walk (6 mins) from the village and tube station. It is an old Quaker area where an abstinence law prevented any pubs from being built until 1990 when thankfully the law was lifted! Today there are several to choose from including The Old Field, the popular gastro pub The Earl Spencer, The Pig & Whistle and The Woodman for live music. There is a great choice of local restaurants: Rubino and the Olive Garden are popular Italians, the Thai Girder and for Indian locals choose between Triphal and Nilima. All being within a 5 minutes' walk of the property.

WIMBLEDON FORTNIGHT

'Wimbledon Fortnight' takes place over two weeks in late June and early July and is when Southfields really comes alive! The Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum and the All England Lawn Tennis Club are just a short walk from the property through the park or along Wimbledon Park Road.

TRANSPORT

Southfields is in Zone 3 on the District Line tube linking with London Victoria in as little as 23 minutes.

In nearby Earlsfield, about a 10 mins walk overland trains into London Waterloo take 15 minutes.

Southfields benefits from a good local bus service, with routes including the 39 (to Clapham Junction), the 156 (to Vauxhall) and the 493 (to Richmond). The N87 night bus runs from Aldwych.

There are good road links with easy access to the A3.

Interaction with guests

Depending on your time of arrival, I will usually be around to welcome you (I work in the office at the front of the building), otherwise keys will be left in a keysafe by the front gate. I live about 20 mins away by car but am always contactable by phone.

What a great place to stay! My husband and I were really impressed with the apartment and it has everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing time including a lovely garden. Fay was a great host and made us feel very welcome. We also loved the location with its closeness to transport links combined with the quiet friendly ambience of Southfields which seemed a world away from the busy city. The walks to Wimbledon Park, Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park were especially memorable. We really felt at home and would love to stay again if we return to London.

Unfortunately we did not meet Fay in person but everything worked out really well anyway. Communication was easy and timely. We found "The Old Bakery" exactly as it was described in the listing. Plus the flat is really clean. The location is perfect to visit the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament - it's only a 15-20 minutes walk to Center Court :-) We would come back anytime and definitely recommend "The Old Bakery".

Great location, lovely duplex layout and perfect for a few days stay. The only issue for us was the bed - if you're tall, it's too small.

Great location for Wimbldeon and a good deal for a small group. Communication was easy as well as checking in and out. My only complaint is that the temperature in the shower was erratic.

Originally from Yorkshire, I moved to London to study languages and for the past 20+ years have run a specialist letting agency in Southfields so know the area pretty well! After living in Wimbledon for many years we moved about 20 mins down the A3. My son is at uni in Bristo…
