This is an unusual, one-of-a kind custom home. Set on a hill, this three-story home with a fourth-story roof-top deck features an ocean view on one side, and the feeling of being in a treehouse, on the other. The house includes spiritual artifacts and an abundance of indoor greenery, rock, and wood. A great "healing" house for those who want to be submerged in color, serenity, and nature.
A short walk to the beach, there’s a large, private back deck with a stonemason’s hand-laid rock wall (both front and back yards) as well as a majestic river rock, wood burning fireplace and river-rock encased, wood-burning stove inside. Cathedral ceilings, a 7-wood hardwood floor, tile slate, and a cozy, master suite with a TV nook and large, two-person newly remodeled master bathroom. The house features plenty of picture windows that highlight this garden-like, artsy home, which makes for a romantic, healing, nurturing experience. Great nooks for reading, napping, or curling up by the fire for a good movie.
This is a unique house for a small family gathering or a superb spot for a quiet getaway for a personal, spiritual retreat, special ceremony or ritual, for one or several persons. Neolithic standing rocks, custom masonry, large Brazilian crystals and rock sculpture as well as Eastern statuary imbue the property with serenity.
This property is right up the hill from Seascape Resort, in case you need additional space for a larger party than the house accommodates. Restaurants and a gourmet grocery store and tennis-fitness club with Yoga and Pilates as well as Zumba, all walking distance (half mile, 5 minutes).
Nisene Marks Park Redwood forest with many wonderful hiking trails is in close proximity, as well the chance to take long walks along the beach, approx a half mile straight (7 or so blocks) down the street.
Three inside areas to dine, from a bistro table in the breakfast nook, a round table for a game of cards in the tall turret to a large wooden table with plank bench seats for group dinners.

Interaction with guests
Someone will be available for you to contact, as well as someone who will be local, during the time of your stay, in case you need anything or have questions. Either myself or my house-minder will greet you upon check-in. In rare cases, an envelope with a key to the home will be hidden outside on the porch for you.
Other things to note
Details about the house, the WIFI, the drought in California! :-) and the neighborhood — all those good things, will be shared once a booking is confirmed.
A PREVIOUS REVIEW
In a guest review of 2015, there was noted a musty/damp scent in the downstairs floor of the house. A leak was later discovered coming from the master bedroom bathtub, down into the ceiling of the lower-level floor, causing a musty scent and non-visible water damage. The leak was discovered and the entire master-bathroom was demolished, the ceilings repaired, and a newly remodeled master bath is now completed and the issue resolved. We are also hired a new and professional cleaning crew for the property, to ensure the house is prepared well for our guests. :-)
The house lends itself to special, intimate, romantic events, such as an intimate wedding, anniversary, or other special rituals and ceremonies. But it's not conducive to "parties" that are more rambunctious and energetic, ones that would invite a larger group of people and lots of alcohol.
This is a shoe-free home, from years spent working in Japan and having learned much about the sacredness of the home. Please take shoes off and leave them in the front entry, or near the doors in the kitchen, or near outdoor patios. Bring slippers with you for indoor usage only.
No smoking of any kind.
This is not necessarily a toddler-child-proofed house; it is situated on four floors, with an outdoor spiral staircase that goes to the roof. There are lots of stairs, slate and tile, indoor plants, candles everywhere, and plenty of textured accoutrements and statuary both inside and out.
For those of you with children, these are the considerations. Babies who are not yet walking or crawling are fine, with attuned parent supervision. Those babies who are crawling would need constant care and supervision, and containment. You need to know your child/children to know if this environment would be suitable and manageable for them and you.
Toddlers would be an absolute handful in this house, I would not recommend it. Young children aged 4 to 12 may or may not be fine, it all depends on the level of attuned parenting they've been raised with and how aware they are of their surroundings and amenable to parental guidance. A parent-child relationship that has induced defiance in a child would not be suitable for this home., due to the number of stairs, roof-top deck, and artifacts that need mindful guests to prevent unnecessary damages.
Absolutely no pets.
