Our cozy little sanctuary is tucked away in a rural setting, only 15 minutes to downtown Asheville. Surrounded by trees, songbirds will awaken you. We are all-inclusive and love to welcome people of all walks of life. Our house is next to the apartment, so we are available when needed and we are also great at respecting your space. Below the apartment, Nathan bakes his yummy sourdough bread that he sells locally several days per week. If you're tortured by the smell, buy a loaf!

The space
The apartment is furnished with 2 comfy queen beds and a cozy living room couch. The bathroom is spacious with a bathtub and shower. The kitchenette is well-stocked with everything you need for cooking simple meals. Specifically, there is a large-sized mini fridge, toaster oven, 2 burner electric cooktop, microwave, coffee pot with filters, tea pot, and plenty of cookware, dish ware, and utensils. The kitchen is quite small, so I wouldn't recommend planning anything extensive. It's better for very simple meals.
There is a small living room with a cozy couch to relax and eat at. Wintertime: The apartment stays cozy and warm throughout the coldest months. There is a baseboard heater in the main living space that works well for most cold days but there are additional space heaters in the bedrooms for added warmth during the most frigid days of the year. Summertime: There is a window AC unit that cools the space nicely, especially if the bedroom doors are kept open. Please note that there is no central AC, so if you like it frigid, this is not the place for you! Also, please note that we live in the most bio-diverse area in the world! It is technically considered a rain forest, so be prepared that there may be bugs around - outside and occasionally inside. We thoroughly clean between guests and have ant traps set up, but sometimes pests make their way into the studio anyway. If you are majorly freaked out by bugs - this won't be the place for you. But, it's really just like living in a home here in the mountains - they are just a part of life around here!

Guest access
The sanctuary is located directly adjacent to our home on the top floor of the building. The lower level is Nathan's bakery where he bakes sourdough bread 3 days per week to sell at local farmers markets. Guests are welcome to come say hello to him and reserve a loaf of bread if he is baking! It's SO yummy :) Our home, backyard, and front porch are not available for guest use.

Other things to note
*We have 2 very friendly cats, named Hazel and Otis (Otis is Hazel's son and is a big boy - you likely won't see him. Hazel is the one with white paws and is smaller, but otherwise they look very much alike), as well as a sweet dog, named Juniper. They are all often outside so feel free to interact with them if you like animals!

*Western North Carolina is one of the most bio-diverse places on the PLANET! When I first moved here 20 years ago, I was astounded by the amount of bugs in the warm months. Please do understand, that we clean the apartment thoroughly between each stay, but there is the potential of bugs getting into the apartment during your stay. This is a country setting, NOT a hotel! So, if you are deathly afraid of bugs, you may want to consider staying elsewhere. Again, we are diligent about cleaning, but you may see a few bugs here and there. We aren't the type type to use toxic chemicals!

Nathan and Michele are excited to host you! We have been stewards of this property for 4 years now; putting in a duck pond, a flower garden and a bakery, introducing goats and animals to our sweet little spot here in Asheville. We delight in being here on the land and it shows. Our next project is fixing up the upper garage to be a flower studio where Michele will be making her arrangements to bring to the farmer's markets here in town. Nathan sells his bread at these markets too, and if there is some available when you are here be sure to ask for a loaf, it's delicious! We are so happy to share our land with others, and this really is a place to come relax, be around some sweet pets and barnyard animals, and enjoy asheville while you're at it! We look forward to meeting you, Nathan & Michele.

During your stay
We are pretty hands-off and like to allow our guests to enjoy their space and time alone. We are, however, available if needed and our home is directly adjacent to the apartment, so your needs can usually be met rather quickly. We love people and will try to say hi if we see you outside.
