My beautiful 1927 cottage with hardwood floors throughout is small town Americana at its best. Stroll to the movies, dinner, or a tavern. On I-90 minutes from Billings and 45 miles to Red Lodge's skiing and hiking. Self catering. Sleeps up to 8.

The space

Room 2 is cozy and perfect for a quick overnight stop. Features a queen sized bed with a beautiful white lacquered headboard, antique steamer trunk table, antique mirror and chair, closet and bureau. Built in 1927 by a local railroad employee, Laurel Ties has it's roots, literally, in railroad history. While the basement of the home was hand dug by local boys, support timbers for the home are actual railroad bridge timbers. The 20's were a time of change, reflected in its architecture. Original cast iron gilded light fixtures, crystal glass door knobs, rich colors and hardwood floors of my home show the craftsmanship and style of the era. While updating I tried to find vintage style fixtures and furnishings to keep the feeling strong. It's three bedrooms and 1.5 baths comfortably fit 6 people, 8 if a couple want to bunk in the living room.

Guest access

In addition to a private bedroom, guests have a shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. The shared fenced back yard with cement patio is a great place for warm summer evenings. The stairs to the attic as well as the attic itself are off limits, as is the basement. Any bedroom not your own is also off limits, as well as the garage/carriage house in back and the VW beetle parked on the patio.

Interaction with guests

I love Montana and am excited to share what I know with you. From shopping to hiking, camping and fishing, I probably have a suggestion for you. Or if you want to sit and visit, play music and share stories, I'm up for that too. I live a short drive away, but work in town and will pop in to check on how you are getting along and tend to the house, but I will respect your privacy.

Other things to note

There is a blow dryer in the bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the mud room. A free, one time visit per registered guest to a local fitness center is available on request.

Jennifer was an amazing host. Once my dog & I checked in, she came over to make sure we knew where everything was and even gave me a run down of the history of the house and the town. Much of the house has original fixtures and even had a record player. It was lovely. I'd definitely stay again.

We had a delightful time at Jennifer's place--Laurel Ties, #2. The home is a wonderful mix of old-time memories with a touch of modern in the bathroom and up-lighting in the living room. She thought of so many minute details as she set up her wonderful place! We especially liked the added ambiance of the King Cole Trio on the phonograph. Her place reminded me of my grandparents home when I was growing up! This place is a perfect jumping-off point for going through Red Lodge and Beartooth Pass, en route to Yellowstone National Park. We would definitely stay here again.

Jennifer's room is very cozy, nice and quiet. She is very fast to answer all questions and provide all amenities and even more. It's the best place, we enjoyed it so much especially after 4 days camping in the Yellowstone ! Thanks again :)

Had a great stay in this beautiful home. Jennifer's communication is excellent and her house accommodates anything you may need. There is a fenced in patio/yard that was great for our dog to run around in.

Oh my gosh we had such a wonderful time. Jennifer has thought of so many details in her home. We were greeted by a really charming little chalk board welcoming myself, my boyfriend and our little dog, Reggie. The yard is fenced so it is perfect for pups! The patio/bbq area is also a lovely place to spend an evenin(URL HIDDEN)The furniture is cozy and plush. We stayed in room #2 and our mattress was perfect. Not too soft, not too firm. I loved her map that shows where everyone has visited from. Jennifer was super quick to respond. Also, very helpful with some fun tips for the area. This was our first Airbnb and we loved it. Hopefully we were as good of tenants as she was a host!

Jennifer's house is awesome! Getting in the house is such a breeze. The door is just close to the parking area, making unloading luggage very easy. The common area is very cozy and meticulously decorated. Everywhere in the house is clean, neat, and dirt-free. We had a great time there!

Jennifer User ProfileJennifer is a superhost.

I am a writer, photographer and student of life. Spending time with family and friends, sharing music, conversation, or the quiet beside a fire with a good book all bring me deep pleasure. Traveling, learning new things and mentoring others in outdoor recreation are some of my hobbies. I thoroughly enjoy being an Airbnb host and meeting the awesome people who travel through my area!

As a host, I want you to feel welcome in my home. Restoring my 1927 cottage was a true labor of love. I did much of the work myself, learning new skills along the way. I tried to maintain the feeling of the era and complement the original light fixtures and door hardware. When you step into my home I want you to feel a bit like you stepped back in time, when life was simpler and elegance and style were built into functionality. Here you can relax.

As a guest, I am courteous, respectful and clean. I have traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, and enjoy meeting new people, sharing stories and songs and learning from others.

I look forward to meeting you!
