My beautiful 1927 cottage with hardwood floors throughout is small town Americana at its best. Stroll to the movies, dinner, or a tavern. On I-90 minutes from Billings and 45 miles to Red Lodge's skiing and hiking. Self catering. Sleeps up to 8.
Room 2 is cozy and perfect for a quick overnight stop. Features a queen sized bed with a beautiful white lacquered headboard, antique steamer trunk table, antique mirror and chair, closet and bureau. Built in 1927 by a local railroad employee, Laurel Ties has it's roots, literally, in railroad history. While the basement of the home was hand dug by local boys, support timbers for the home are actual railroad bridge timbers. The 20's were a time of change, reflected in its architecture. Original cast iron gilded light fixtures, crystal glass door knobs, rich colors and hardwood floors of my home show the craftsmanship and style of the era. While updating I tried to find vintage style fixtures and furnishings to keep the feeling strong. It's three bedrooms and 1.5 baths comfortably fit 6 people, 8 if a couple want to bunk in the living room.
In addition to a private bedroom, guests have a shared kitchen, living room and bathroom. The shared fenced back yard with cement patio is a great place for warm summer evenings. The stairs to the attic as well as the attic itself are off limits, as is the basement. Any bedroom not your own is also off limits, as well as the garage/carriage house in back and the VW beetle parked on the patio.
Interaction with guests
I love Montana and am excited to share what I know with you. From shopping to hiking, camping and fishing, I probably have a suggestion for you. Or if you want to sit and visit, play music and share stories, I'm up for that too. I live a short drive away, but work in town and will pop in to check on how you are getting along and tend to the house, but I will respect your privacy.
Other things to note
There is a blow dryer in the bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the mud room. A free, one time visit per registered guest to a local fitness center is available on request.
Please be courteous of other guests in the house and the neighbors. Quiet time is from 10 pm. until 8 am. Clean up after yourself in the kitchen and bathroom. Put used towels in the hamper in the mud room. No smoking in the house or around the front or back door. Please smoke on the patio away from open windows and clean up after yourself. Pets are welcome if you let me know ahead of time, but owners must clean up after their pets. An additional charge per pet may be assessed at my discretion prior to booking. No pets or children may be left unattended at the house.

I am a writer, photographer and student of life. Spending time with family and friends, sharing music, conversation, or the quiet beside a fire with a good book all bring me deep pleasure. Traveling, learning new things and mentoring others in outdoor recreation are some of my hobbies. I thoroughly enjoy being an Airbnb host and meeting the awesome people who travel through my area!
As a host, I want you to feel welcome in my home. Restoring my 1927 cottage was a true labor of love. I did much of the work myself, learning new skills along the way. I tried to maintain the feeling of the era and complement the original light fixtures and door hardware. When you step into my home I want you to feel a bit like you stepped back in time, when life was simpler and elegance and style were built into functionality. Here you can relax.
As a guest, I am courteous, respectful and clean. I have traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally, and enjoy meeting new people, sharing stories and songs and learning from others.
I look forward to meeting you!
