This beautiful 4 bedroom cottage is in the charming village of West Buckland. It is 0.5mile from Bantham, famous for its unspoilt sandy beaches and popular pub. There's a large log fire; private garden and ample private parking in a large courtyard. Think relaxing walks; seaside; surfing; cycling and golf.
Lonely Planet 2015 has rated Bantham Beach as the best beach in the UK and the 6th best beach in the whole of Europe.
Perfect for relaxing family holidays.
Particularly well suited for exhausted parents with children who need entertaining, fresh air and activities.
The cottage is light, calming and a great base after a day at the beach. On your doorstep are stunning rural walks, great eateries; Bantham beach, the sea air, surfing and all manner of other outdoor pursuits. The Sloop Inn is about 0.4 miles away and we often stroll down for an evening meal with the children. It's very family friendly.
There's a famous golf course at Thurlestone which is only a mile or so away and wonderful old english pubs are dotted around the neighbouring villages.
In the outbuilding we leave a collection of battered bicycles and old wetsuits which you are welcome to use. We also have a log-store which is well-stocked, and you can help yourself for the evening fire. We always leave a variety of books, board games and DVDs for any rainy day.
Beach, seaside, surfing, country walks, cycling, pubs, local village shop (great coffee and croissants), gastrobus at Bantham (wonderful hot & cold food to eat at the beach). Further afield there's Kingsbridge for shopping (about 4 miles) and Salcombe (about 6 miles). A ferry runs between Kingsbridge and Salcombe which makes for a great day out.
In the cottage, there are 4 bedrooms. Two doubles (both with Kingsize beds); one twin and one single. There are two bathrooms, a lawn to play on and a large courtyard for parking. The courtyard is private and not shared.
Interaction with guests
Always happy to help. Best is by phone or email and will respond immediately on receiving any message.
Other things to note
The entrance to the courtyard is quite narrow (see photo 16). All saloons, convertibles, estate cars and most 4x4s will be absolutely fine. Those with very large 4x4s or massive people carriers will find entering and exiting the courtyard quite challenging though, so better in an estate car.
Otherwise, look after it as you would look after your own home. If something gets damaged then we'd always rather know and are pretty reasonable and relaxed. We understand that accidents can happen. So, if a bowl breaks or a glass smashes then it's no drama. Please try and replace with an equivalent. Likewise, if you help yourself to a bottle of wine (there's always some in one of the cupboards) then please just replace before departing. Enjoy the cottage. Have a load of fun but treat it with respect so that others can enjoy it likewise.
From Jul 21 - Sep 7, 2018 the minimum stay is 5 nights.
