The space

Swagatam (welcome) dear friends, and thanks for visiting Golfutar! My name is Suren and my family has been running a successful trekking and tourism business for over twenty years. Recently, we expanded our beautiful earthquake resistant home into a homestay in order to provide our clients and travelling guests with a fun, comfortable and peaceful home environment.

Conveniently located between Kathmandu’s serene, nature filled outskirts and main city rush, Golfutar has a lot to offer travellers and our home is perfect for short and long term stays.

Our homestay is a 10 minute drive to Narathan where you can explore the Budhanilkantha Temple which houses the Sleeping Vishnu. Further up the hill is Shivapuri National Park which offers a range of hikes lasting 1, 2 or 4 days. Additionally, the national park is right next to the Vipassana Meditation Centre for those looking to explore their inner Self. In the opposite direction, guests are a short 15 minute drive to Thamel and the rest of the main city action. Micro-buses and taxis are easily accessible from the main road which is approximately a 3 minute walk from our house.

What makes our homestay unique is my family. After living in Australia for 7 years, I understand the importance of providing a comfortable, friendly home environment when away from home. Our family members have a wealth of international experience - you won't want to miss Ama's (my mom's) exciting tales about her time in Japan! Now that we're all back home, we want travellers to experience the genuine hospitality the Nepali people are known for providing. It is my wish to be at your service and a part of your memories. I promise with us you will have the best and most memorable experience in Nepal!

Guest access

Our house is 4 storeys and you'll have access to all the levels. My home is your home and although my family occupies the upperfloors, we want our home to be an open, shared space with our guests. We welcome all visitors and treat everyone as if they were a part of our own family. Beyond your private room, you'll be able to utilize our massive 3rd floor terrace which is a great sunbathing spot, our lovely family sitting room, kitchen and dining spaces, and feel free to grab a snack in our vibrant organic garden.

Interaction with guests

As mentioned, my family has been running a successful trekking and tourism business for over 20 years. The Api-Saipal Treks & Expedition office is also in our homestay. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have and can easily arrange just about adventure or service your heart desires such as trekking, mountaineering, cultural tours, jungle safari, mountain flights, ticketing and tend to any other questions you may have about our fabulous country!
