Where you’ll be

Venice, Veneto, Italy

Located between the Adriatic Sea and the Lagoon, this apartment (renovation 2016) in residence is on the second floor with elevator, equipped with a port and private car parking. Its generous terrace offers a breathtaking view over an arm of the lagoon which embraces the 18-hole golf course, a real "green lung" where fish and birds of all kinds come to nest, around a floating house. A table (4 to 8 people) covered with fine marble allows you to enjoy the terrace at any time, decorated with various plants, from jasmine to clematis, from hibiscus to tropical plants. The residence is nestled in the lap of the Golf, also all kinds of walks or bike rides lead to the beach and its bathing establishment, restaurants and nautical activities (7 min.) But also for the most part "free beach" - one of the Death in Venice “sets” - and its dunes and pine forest (classified as a plant and ornithological reserve by the WWF). Depending on the course of the sun, just have a refreshment or a vegetarian snack at the very colorful “Macondo” hut , at the end of the beach and built in driftwood. Here the dike of the "Boca di Malamoco" (in fact in the Alberoni), connects the Adriatic to the Venetian Lagoon, and invites you either to the open sea, or to continue the slow progression of the sun towards the Lagoon, along the pine forest (shaded alternative to reach the dike and its small houses on plaice fishing stilts). The paths from the lighthouse to the village of the village see alternating walks on the Lagoon at sunset, the Forte Rocchetta (its peacocks and goats, to the delight of children: remember to bring cookies!), Wooded areas and typical houses of this old place strong from the Austrian period. Pass by the masterful entrance to the Golf and the Rubiconde Floating House to reach the apartment. Continuing along the Lagoon, the village of Alberoni, with its shops: grocery store / "cicchetti" bars and restaurants serving local specialties (squid ink pasta, Venetian calf liver, seafood risotto, pizzeria / Drugstore, newspapers and tobacco open on the “Piazzale”, where ice-creams and local spritz aperitif await you to admire the sun setting over the Lagoon and behind the “Euganee Hills”, resurgences of the neighboring (and visible) Dolomites, in the shape of nipples.
The walk towards the 17th century lighthouse and the "murazzi" protecting the Lido from the attacks of the Adriatic, leads you slowly, overlooking the Adriatic and the Lagoon, wooden houses and their vegetable garden and orchard to Malamoco, the first establishment of the Veneti in Lagoon (Metamauco) and real cinema set (scene of the arrival of Von Asenbach at the Lido in "Death in Venice", by L. Visconti).
The Lido conceals many other places of astonishment: its Palais des Festivals (Mostra del Cinema), its luxurious hotels in the historic Ciga chain, frequented since the 1930s by those who were not yet called “jet-setters”. »: The Grand Hôtel Excelsior and its neo-Moorish architecture, its former Mussolini-style Casino, the Grand Hôtel des Bain (Death in Venice) without forgetting its Hippodrome.
Beyond its center and “hub” of road and lagoon transports, Santa Maria Elisabetta, its shops and medium-sized stores for goodwill, by pushing the bicycle towards the North, will surprise you with the “Liberty” style villas before visiting the moving old Jewish Cemetery; also discover the Nicelli Airport (1930s), and finally San Nicolò, from where the pilgrims from and to the Holy Land left and returned.
