Stylish apartment in a lovely trendy neighbourhood near the centre of Amsterdam. Owned by a Dutch writer who uses it as a writer's den. It comfortably fits two and you'll have your own private balcony to have your breakfast in the morning.

The space

This fabulous apartment is on the top floor. The place is decked out with Turkish rugs, wooden floors, original artwork and has windows on all sides. On a sunny day you have the brightest apartment you can imagine, at night you can see the moon through the sky light, or from your balcony.
You'll have your own kitchen and bathroom, with a bath and a shower. There are lots of lovely bookshops, cafe's and shops around the corner and two steps down the street you find a beautiful square with a fountain and a great cafe on the corner. This is the area where lots of actors, writers, musicians live, and all this only a 15 minute tram ride away from the centre of Amsterdam.
I'm a Dutch children's book writer and own the whole house. I use this apartment to write my books and as a pied a terre when I am in town.

Check in after 14.00. Check out before 11:00, but you can leave your luggage and pick it up later. If no other guests are arriving right before or after you you can come in or stay any time you like.

Guest access

Free wifi, cable tv, dishwasher, washing machine.

Interaction with guests

The front door gives access to two different apartments. Yours is on the top floor (two stairs up) and you have the whole apartment to yourself. I won't be around much as I divide my time between the other apartment and my house in the country, but you can reach me around the clock. I have friends/neighbours nearby who can help out if there's any problem.

Other things to note

There is a bath tub and a balcony with a great view.

Check in is at 2 pm, check out at 11. Out of season it's no problem to arrive earlier or to stay all day on the day of departure. In the summer I really need those three hours to clean the apartment, change sheets, and put some fresh flowers there. If you want to leave your luggage, that's always possible!

Very nice stay at Manon's flat. It's really the perfect place to start discover the real beauty of Amsterdam. The flat was quite and tidy. I would definitely recommend Manon's flat experience!

What I loved about Manon's place, was the location. Her home was very accessible to the tram and not far from a Central location with lots of places to eat, visit and shop. If I ever return to Amsterdam I would stay again. Her home is comfortable and clean, which are two very essential things. I came in the fall, so it was a little chilly. I would suggest learning how to work the heating system, as I thought I could, but actually forgot to ask. I don't think I was operating it correctly. Manon was very responsive with everything! Until the day my friend and I arrived. She's a great host! And yes! You do have to be careful of the stairs. They are very steep. Otherwise, things were fine.

The flat is in a quiet suburb of central Amsterdam with great local restaurants and cafes. The 9 tram takes you into amsterdam with ease. It's far nicer than the centre. The flat is very comfortable.

Manon's apartment is very spacious and in a lovely neighbourhood. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the bar/ restaurant just down the road. It is a local meeting point with a wonderful atmosphere, a welcome retreat after a day in the city. The apartment is clean , quiet and comfortable . There is a large supermarket nearby and the No 9 tram is really convenient to commute to the city. (15 to 20 mins). Manon has a folder of information on the local neighbourhood and many suggestions for your stay. Manon's communication was top rate and the key system worked perfectly. Staying in this typical Amsterdam style house was a big part of our experience of the city. As, is typical of the style the stairs are very steep and may be difficult for some but we are in our 60's and managed the climb. Thanks Manon for the opportunity to stay in your apartment, we really felt at home.

We had an excellent time during our 5 nights at Manon's apartment! The apartment is spacious and stylish, it feels like a home, somewhere that's been lived in. Located in a nice area of town, it's a short tram ride to the city center (~10 mins, the stop is a few mins walk). To enter the apartment you must climb steep stairs, it wasn't a problem for us but might be an issue for older guests or indeed those with mobility issues. Manon was a great host and we highly recommend you stay at her apartment! A peaceful, stylish apartment just outside the busy city center - when we return hopefully we'll be able to stay here again!

What can I say that has no already been mentioned! It was unfortunate we did not get to meet on our visit. Location - Perfect! away from the city center but close enough if you miss it. The Property - I had no issues with stairs, yes its steep and there are a few steps but once you get to your floor the view, warmth of the house, the layout and finish to this listing is superb! Balcony is wonderful to sit out on during the morning as the sunrises. The facilities were excellent - I can not fault this. The neighborhood - It is a lovely neighborhood close to a big supermarket, cash machine, food shops and a lovely park which is walking distance. We spend most of our days in as we felt the house accommodated us more then being in the busy city. Also the evenings were quiet which made the property more likable. ( A quiet escape) Manon was extremely helpful and was always on hand if you needed advice or an emergency iron and ironing board. I would most certainly go back and stay there and would highly recommend this listing. THANK YO FOR HOSTING US.

Wonderful neighborhood away, from the hustle and bustle of the big city, easy to access from the tram. If you have troubles walking up steep stairs this would be an issue for you.
