Our house, with 3 bedrooms available, is a Maison vigneron with the authenticity of "real France" combined with all modern conveniences. In the old Languedoc village of Roquebrun, a truly beautiful region in the sunniest and warmest part of France.

The space

Hello Traveller,

We have a beautiful "Maison vigneron " set in the picturesque village of Roquebrun.
The house is set in the heart of the village; the local bar, boulangerie , tabac and restaurants are all within a few minutes walk.

The three spare rooms are a good size ( 4m x 3.5m) two with a double bed and one with two single beds. There is a large bathroom with bath, WC and shower for guests use only. The beautiful sunny sitting room with balcony offers sunshine all day long and the large terrace at the back is available to guests also. The photos speak for themselves.

There is off street parking in our large ' cave'. A cot is available if necessary, also a 'Stokke Handy Sit chair suitable for 7 months onwards.

Roquebrun is a charming old village with narrow winding streets, some of which are too narrow for cars. Parts of the village date back to the twelfth century. The river Orb with its beach and clear water enhance the village and it's a great place to while away the sunny days. Idyllic for children and adults.

The village has two bars, three Restaurants, a pizzeria, a small supermarket, and a super boulangerie also selling free range eggs and seasonal fruit. Roquebrun has it's own local Cave selling wines of the region. There is a small market on Friday mornings. The village also offers canoeing facilities. The esplanade offers a small shaded playground for little ones.

A car is a must for you to explore the region as there is so much to do and see such as :::: The Canal du Midi, the spectacular Gorges d'Heric, local markets in Saint Chinian (a must on Sunday morning) and Cessenon and Pezenas. Pezenas and Carcassonne are very old towns with much to see. Mediterranean beaches such as Serignan Plage and Valras Plage are a 40 min drive away. There is an abundance of natural walking routes and a local guide can be arranged to take you off the beaten track and inform you of the local nature.
If it's retail therapy you are after you can visit Beziers, Narbonne or take a day trip to Montpellier.

As your host we can give you lots of advice on where to go and what to see. We are here to help make your stay a very pleasant and enjoyable one.

Beziers airport is 45 mins from the village. Carcassonne and Perpignan are 1hr 30 mins approx.
It is ideal as a base for walking holidays, walking guide, GR7, rock climbing holidays, GR Chemin de Fontcaude, Grand Raid 6666 Occitane. Languedoc-Roussillon. If it is for a larger group we can organise accommodation in nearby houses.

Guest access

Sitting room. Large outdoor terrasse at the back of house. Food may be stored in the fridge. The kitchen is available for making tea/coffee/snacks. Occasional use of kitchen may be permitted on request to guests staying several nights.

Other things to note

We've been traveling with airbnb for several years now and this one was by far the best experience we've ever made. Catherine and her husband are such welcoming and kind people. They did not only enjoyed helping us with all of our questions concerning the area but they also did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Also, their beautiful house was perfectly located quite in the middle of the small town's centre while still being very quiet and peaceful. It was a perfect starting point for exploring the area by canoe or hiking. We can't wait to come back Roquebrun!

Catherine was the most brilliant host. Nothing was too much (URL HIDDEN) much so that she even went with friends to the hospital in Bezier with a sick child! The house was beautiful and quiet, although on the main road you could not hear the traffic at all. Delicious breakfasts as well. The hosts were extremely welcoming and we would defintely go there again if ever in the area.

Catherine and Michael were very welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in their beautifully restored traditional house. Lovely airy bedroom with views up the steep hillside behind. We enjoyed sitting outside on the spacious, flowery terrace, even when it started raining and we retreated under the shelter. A highlight was the interesting chats with our hosts. Great breakfast too! Several restaurants, all within 5 minutes walk. Roquebrun is a superbly preserved mediaeval village, popular with tourists. Highlights include the River Orb and the Mediterranean garden. Covered parking in the cellar on the ground floor.
