“Magical" is how our wonderfully gracious host, Karen, described her island property Stone’s Throw, and magical it was! From the minute we spotted the vintage red gem of a cottage on our approach by boat, beautifully nestled among the pines in a private and serene setting, and then docked at the spacious boathouse, we were immediately taken with the charm of the property as we entered a different era in time. While the cottage itself is a vintage classic and very spacious for a large family, the kitchen is updated and is well stocked with every last thing you need to prepare meals or entertain. We were pleasantly surprised to find the refrigerator thoughtfully stocked by Karen with breakfast essentials such as milk, juice, water, eggs, and even a yummy coffee cake! The gas grill was very clean and full propane tank supplied. The vaulted great room with cozy fireplace had a great collection of games, puzzles, and movies…perfect for some old fashioned family fun on the two rainy days that we had. Wifi is included for those who cannot leave the grid! Lounging on the hammock on the huge front porch, only a stone’s throw from the water’s edge and hearing the loon calls is a favorite memory, as well as waking up to the exquisite sunrise every morning and breathtaking views. The boathouse is an entity unto itself and accommodated our 23ft pontoon boat and was ideal for swimming, sunbathing, lounging and fishing, and we also had fun on the canoe! Karen was an absolute pleasure to work with, and was immediately responsive to any of our needs. I highly recommend this “magical" place for a family vacation, you will not be disappointed.
