Our house, built in 1873, occupies a spectacular position in North Oxford, just 10 minutes walk from the historic city centre. Two large, recently renovated en suite double bedrooms are available. Served breakfast in the dining room is included.

The space

This beautiful mid-Victorian House was built in the development of North Oxford in the 1870s. It was previously owned by one of the University Colleges and used as student accommodation. We moved in, in 2012 and are converting it back into a lovely family home.

Two bedrooms are available with en suite modern shower rooms. This one is a double bedroom (with room for a cot if required) with a unique view to the back. Breakfast is served in a dining room in the lower ground floor overlooking the garden. The front reception room with smart TV and piano is available for guests' use. Free wi-fi is provided.

My husband and I live at the house and will be staying there when you visit. My husband is a University Professor. I will be there to welcome you, to provide breakfast, to answer any questions you may have and to help you feel at home in Oxford.

This classic Victorian 4 storey house is located within the University area of Oxford, very near St Hugh's, St Anthony's and St Anne's Colleges. North Parade, once the northern perimeter of King Charles' army during the civil war, now a lively street with cafes, pubs, shops and a regular farmer's market, is literally round the corner. It is a wonderful, old, vibrant, yet peaceful part of the city.

The 10-15 minute walk into town is easy or buses go every few minutes from just across the road. Northbound buses to Bicester Village Designer Outlet leave from 50 yards away and for Blenheim Palace from nearby on Woodstock Road. The University Park is 5 minutes away, with Jericho and the river Thames 10 minutes in the other direction. The airline bus goes from the London airports to Gloucester Green bus station which is 15 mins walk away or a few minutes in a taxi. If you need parking this can be arranged either on site or round the corner.

Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9.30am and can be continental or a full English breakfast as requested.

Guest access

Two bedrooms are available, both with modern en suite shower rooms. This one is a double bedroom (with room for a cot if required) with a unique view, looking out at the garden and the beautiful spire of a historic local church. The room is 16 square metres (including shower room) and is very quiet. The evening sun floods in through the window. Breakfast is served in the dining room which is on the lower ground floor. The front reception room with smart TV and piano is available for guests' use. Free wi-fi is provided.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I live at the house and will be staying there when you visit. My husband is a University Professor. I will be there to welcome you, to provide breakfast, to answer any questions you may have and to help you feel at home in Oxford.

Other things to note

Breakfast is served between 8.00 and 9.00 a.m. at weekends and between 7.30 and 8.30 a.m. from Monday to Friday - - muesli, granola, fresh fruit, yoghurt, hot French baguette, scrambled egg and to drink orange juice, tea or coffee.

This is a beautiful 19th century home in a great location handy for all the spoils of Oxford. It's about a 15 minute walk along the same road to the centre and many of the university colleges. It's also around 10 minutes walk to the fashionable and Bohemian suburb of Jericho. Our bedroom was lovely, overlooking the beautiful English Country Garden. No need to be put off by the main road as world war III could be going on outside and you wouldn't have a clue. It's quiet and peaceful once the front door closes. Miriam is warm and welcoming and more than willing to help with any advice or tips. There were delicious treats waiting in the room which we devoured with a cup of tea whilst appreciating the garden view. Miriam and Tim provided a scrumptious breakfast with a range of foods that kept us going all day, no doubt the best of all our air bnb stays. We will definitely stay here again when next in Oxford. Thanks heaps Miriam and Tim.

If you are fortunate enough to find availability at Miriam and Tim's you won't regret it a bit. Excellent walking distance to town center, wonderful breakfast is served, and such friendliness that it makes for an ideal visit. Whether you are coming for business or pleasure, it is an ideal B&B with beautiful gardens out back and an easy ability to interact with other guests or be on your way.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying with Miriam. Our room was lovely, very quiet and had a great view over gardens. Breakfast was delicious. The location is ideal only a short walk from central Oxford and also very close to North Parade which has interesting pubs and restaurants. We loved visiting Oxford again and hope to be back!

Beautiful period house, perfectly placed for easy walk to centre of Oxford. Facilities well thought out even down to welcoming homemade cake in room and an exceptionally nice breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs. Would definitely recommend. Miriam is a charming and consummate host.

I have stayed at AirBnbs in a half dozen countries around the world and can say with pleasure that Miriam's place in Oxford is the nicest place I have ever stayed. The house is beautiful, Miriam and her husband Tim are lovely, the breakfast in the morning was delightful, and the house is perfectly located to explore Oxford. I would stay here again a million times over. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Really lovely home, our bedroom was beautiful overlooking their gardens, was very tranquil. Very close to central Oxford, we walked to town, but a bus stop outside their house if you didn't feel so inclined. Miriam and Tim were wonderful hosts, very informative and helpful. Tea and coffee in the room with fabulous chocolate slice and other delights. The breakfast in the morning with any other guests were sumptuous repasts with fun conversations. All in all such a lovely stay!
