Modern, newly converted farm cottage on a working dairy farm. Light and airy. Sleeps max 4 persons. Open plan living, kitchen and dining area. Full kitchen, washing machine, dishwasher etc. 3 miles kirkby lonsdale, 6 miles junction 36 m6. Amazing views over the lune valley including the howgills, Barbon and Casterton from cottage window. Sky sports, movies and fast broadband included. Bedding and towels included. Bike storage (by prior arrangement). Parking for 1-2 cars. Small patio dining area.

The space

The cottage was converted from farm buildings in 2012. It has a modern, open plan layout. 2 bedrooms (the double being on the ground floor along with the bathroom) plus an adjoining cot room/playroom/storage room. Ideally suited to families with children or couples. Highchair, fixed cot, travel cot, toy box, childrens books, plastic cutlery and plates etc in the cottage allow for easy traveling with children.

Guest access

Although located right in the farm yard itself, the rest of the farm is privately owned and therefore visitors are politely requested not to stray from the bridleway and footpaths around the farm. Thank you

Interaction with guests

we live next door to the cottage and are usually around at some point during the day and are only too happy to give any help, advice and recommendations to guests during their stay.

Other things to note

Please bear in mind that the cottage is located on a working farm and therefore to expect farm vehicles and general 'farm noises' at various times of the day and very occasionally evening/night.

Emma's place is a great place for a relaxing time and to visit the Lake District and surrounds. We, family of 4 (4 year old & 1 year old) stayed for 5 nights and the place was perfect. The boys enjoyed the playroom with great toys and books and the place was nice and neat. This place has everything you need, especially if you have baby/children. The kitchen is well equipped if you plan to cook, and the bathroom/shower is also very nice. We had no issues with wifi, the signal was strong as it had its own router, but we didn't get a phone reception here but that wasn't a problem. Sky channels (sports/movies/kid's) was also a bonus. We stayed here to visit the Lake District and it was a good distance away for my littlest to nap in the car but not too far for the older one to get too bored. Nearest town, Kirkby Lonsdale, is a short drive away and that is worth a visit too. I would recommend Emma's place, we loved it.

I travelled with my partner and another couple and we all loved our stay in Mansergh. Emma was very communicative leading up to our stay and provided useful instructions for finding the house. She was there to greet us when we arrived and we chatted a couple of times throughout our stay as she lives next door, but the cottage is very private all the same. We loved the amazing views over the hills from the living room and kitchen. The cottage is totally functional and you have all the equipment you need to cook (including a dishwasher!). Coffee, salt and pepper are provided and Emma also left some yummy treats. Both bedrooms are really quiet, the double has blackout curtains. The top bedroom is lovely and light, great mattresses too. It was quite warm all weekend and we had to open the top window which did let a lot of light in but you could avoid that by opening the doors. The whole house is really peaceful and we only heard a tiny bit of gentle farm noise. To top it all off, the shower is fantastic. During the weekend we explored the Lake District and also went to nearby Kirkby Lonsdale for dinner - Emma provided contact details for a taxi company which was really well-priced. We were also close to the Yorkshire Dales but didn't end up making it there - next time. Overall we'd totally recommend Emma's cottage for families and friends. Although it would be a perfect place to get some work done, the wifi isn't great so you'd need to bring a booster. However it's really a place to get away from it all and we feel totally refreshed after our stay. Thanks Emma!
