Kalliope’s fifth-floor apartment is spacious, bright, elegantly furnished, spotlessly clean, with two balconies on opposite sides of the building allowing a refreshing breeze throughout. The view of the Acropolis (only 15 minutes walk) from the northern balcony is inspirational – even more so from the top floor terrace, to which we had full access.
All mod cons are provided, including AC in the living room and main bedroom, satellite tv (with English language channels DW and BBC World News). The well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher (who wants to wash up on holiday!), full-size fridge-freezer, gas oven with ceramic (electric) and gas hob, all manner of dishes, pots, pans and glasses.
The apartment is tastefully decorated with delicate paintings and a variety of lovely small objects, and there is a collection of books on Greek art, history and architecture (many in English).
Our host, Kalliope, a pleasant, relaxed lady, was very nice to us. She left a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit in the fridge for us, plus all sorts of tea, coffee and biscuits. One day she even brought us a delicious dish of slow-cooked beef with pasta!
Thank you, Kalliope, for your hospitality! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Athens and strongly recommend the apartment to anyone seeking a comfortable place in the city centre.
