Enjoying peace and tranquillity, on beautiful Waiheke Island, Griffin cottage stands out with its' unique architecture and ambience. Set in 15 acres, with vineyards and olive groves, this two-storey cottage is fully self-contained.

The cottage is ideally suited for a couple, however if you do wish to bring an extra person there is a single bed downstairs. A second child could also sleep on the couch or we can provide a cot, if needed.

The space

Griffin Cottage offers romantic privacy in a natural setting, amongst fruit trees, vineyards and farm paddocks.

We extend an invitation for guests to take part in feeding the farm animals including the horse, sheep, pig, rabbit, doves, chickens etc; and this has been very popular indeed.

Guest access

The cottage is set in 15 acres, so there is plenty of space to explore. Enjoy ample parking near the Cottage and a circular courtyard with rose quartz set in the stone wall.

Options to walk among the vineyards, orchard and olive groves, native bush, animal paddocks etc; and to neighboring restaurants and wineries/distilleries including award winning Te Motu and Tantalus.

Interaction with guests

We like to meet and greet you upon arrival; and offer you a free tour of the property and all our animals. We then aim to leave you to enjoy your own peace and tranquillity. We live on another part of the property, and are available by phone, at your convenience.

Other things to note

If you would like to meet our animals, please come to stay! Our sheep come when called, and our pigs are very friendly and intelligent. We also have ducks, chickens, doves, goats and a rabbit.

Katherine's cottage was easy to find and so accessible to everything we went there for. Beaches, scenery, great food, great wine, relaxation and a total experience. The property is great. We got to see Kaka, Tui, wood pigeon, rosella as well as Katherine's "zoo". My camera is full of photos just from Katherine's property. She even has her own chapel. Now our batteries are recharged and it's back to the real world. One of our best wedding anniversaries. Thanks Katherine for the experience and the beautiful card.

Our stay at Griffin Cottage was simply fantastic! Both the interior and exterior of the house have been wonderfully maintained and are beautiful. Katherine was a wonderful host who takes a lot of pride in looking after her guests. We really enjoyed getting to spend some time feeding the animals on the property and learning a little more about it's history. We can't wait to come back!

Oh wow, there are not enough good things I can say about Katherine and her family and the beautiful cottage we stayed in! This place is just as cute as the pictures show and the experience turned out even better than imagined. Not only is this cottage set against one of the prettiest landscapes of the island, complete with the most lovable of farm animals, there are some great wineries nearby. And on top of all of this, Katherine was really easy to get a hold of, and the location was pretty spot on and easily accessible. This cottage is easy to get to even if you don't have a car since it's right along the bus line. Katherine was kind enough to invite my friend and I along to help her do a morning feeding of the animals. It's clear she and her family put a lot of time and energy into maintaining the locations. There's also a lot of ideas for improving the experiences. If I get the chance to come back to New Zealand again, I'll definitely be doing another visit to Waiheke just for the experience alone to stay at this location. Thanks again for all your help, Katherine. We loved our time here, and I absolutely fell in love with Maggie and Pumpkin especially!

Cupid's cottage was a wonderful place to stay, a beautiful cottage to with two adults upstairs and two kids in the lounge downstairs. We were having a family wedding on the property at the larger Pegasus Lodge and family also stayed in Katherine's other cottage. Katherine was a wonderful host to us all and the kids loved the venue as much as the adults. Would definately recommend for a romantic venue for two, or for larger parties over the 3 houses on the property.

We are a family of three, with a 5 year old daughter, a horse, chickens, two sheep, two pigs, two goats, doves, a rabbit and a dog. We live on 15 acres, set in Onetangi Valley, among grapevines and olive trees, on beautiful Waiheke Island. Dan is a Park Ranger, and I am a full time mother and business manager. Between us we have traveled to over 70 countries, both for work and pleasure and enjoy learning about different cultures.
