We've been both Airbnb hosts + users. We've recently moved into our new home + new neighborhood--Bushwick--which we love! We both work at museums + are considerate hosts. This room is perfect for visiting researchers, professionals + young families.

The space

The room has a full double bed, drawers and a closet for storage, and central air and heat for perfect temperature. The room has its own adjacent bathroom that is for the use of guests only. There is a spacious outdoor deck area which, when winter is gone, is lovely to eat out on or have an evening glass of wine on. The house is less than a year old, so everything is in perfect working order, clean, and calm. We have a small cot we can put up for young children (it is good for 5 and under) or a larger cot for older children (10 and under). We do not charge for children under ten, and although we don't yet have kids of our own we love hosting young families!

Guest access

Guests have access to their bedroom and adjacent bathroom, as well as our kitchen for coffee/tea and breakfast items. Guests are welcome to relax in the calm and comfortable living room.

Interaction with guests

We have been both Airbnb hosts and users, and so know how to welcome people warmly, and then give you your own space to enjoy your stay in NYC. We are at work during the day and so guests will have the house to themselves during work hours Mon-Fri--although our adorable Siamese cat Harry will be in residence full-time, so you'll need to be non-allergic and cat friendly to stay here (thought don't worry--Harry takes care of himself and will leave you be!).

Other things to note

Also, you may also want to know that we automatically donate 3% from all our bookings to NYC non-profit Breaking Ground. Breaking Ground's mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities by developing and sustaining exceptional supportive and affordable housing as well as programs for homeless and other vulnerable New Yorkers. Find out more about the good work they do by Googling "Breaking Ground NYC."

Also, we've said it in several places, but we want to make clear to potential guests who suffer allergies that we have a cat! Our house is super clean, but for those of you who are very sensitive, you need to know this detail! :)

Michelle and Austin were both great hosts. They answered all our questions and offered plenty of info on places to go and how to get there. which helped us immensely and helped us to make the most of our time in new york. key pick up and instructions were easy and very convenient. apartment only a few minutes walk to the subway. I would strongly recommend Michelle and Austin as welcoming, accommodating, friendly and helpful hosts. it was perfect for us!

We had a fantastic stay at Michelle's and Austin's place in Bushwick. Everything was wonderful and we can highly recommend to stay here for a comfortable and relaxed New York experience. Our hosts went out of their way to provide us with helpful additional advice on their city, even on short notice while we were exploring NY. We would love to stay here again during our next trip!

Thank you for everything Michelle! They were perfect host. They told me so many recommendations and we really enjoy. It's not close from Manhattan but it was okay because we enjoyed going Williamsburg area so many times. You can reach Williamsburg in 30min. My little son 8 month old also together but Michelle was so welcome. Also it was very useful to use there kitchen because I have to make my son's meal. I highly recommend!

My experience really surpassed my expectations. Michelle and Austin struck a lovely balance between recommending and advising, and leaving me to get on with things. I enjoyed being surrounded by books, music, healthy food, interesting objects, and art. It felt like a great home to return to each evening. Michelle was super sharp to respond to e mails too.

Michelle and Austin made our stay in NY extra special. Lots of good tips for restaurants, musea and things to do, a beautiful home, a charming/sneaky cat and great location.
