A stunning 200 year old cottage with breathtaking views over the Dordogne valley. Three bedrooms and beautifully presented inside - and just as adorable outside. Swimming pool, terrace, great walks, fab cycling, canoeing. This house has it all.

The space

Perfect house for a family holiday - just as our family has enjoyed for the last 10 years. Buffevent sits in about 2 acres of land, with a house left and right (both very quiet neighbours). There is a road at the bottom of the garden that can be a bit busy in the Summer (le Coux to Le Bugue road), but you honestly don't notice it much. A very quiet lane, used to access Buffevent, sits above the house.

The house sleeps 7 comfortably: one room with a double bed; one room with eaves comprising 2 single beds, and one large bedroom with 3 single beds. All upstairs and very peaceful. There's a bathroom upstairs and downstairs.

There is a separate kitchen with loo/shower room just beside it. Kitchen has all features you need, including dishwasher, Nespresso coffee maker, etc. Weber BBQ outside. Largwe lounge with wood-burning fire, satellite TV (although the signal is poor currently), Wi-Fi, DVD, games, etc.

Outside, there is a large patio with a table seating 10 (with awning), plus slightly wobbly table tennis adjacent. The house benefits from great views over the Dordogne valley; fantastic routes for walking, running and cycling in the area. Or just doing nothing.

Guest access

You have access to the entire house, and your own 10m (fresh water) swimming pool. Nothing is shared with other properties. There are some private items stored in the barn, including car and a scooter, which are not available to guests. Check in time is from 4pm. Check out time is 10am.

Interaction with guests

The property owners will not be on site during your stay. The pool is cleaned weekly by a housekeeper.

Other things to note

This is a family home - it includes personal heirlooms and general family items. It is not a bland holiday house done up just for letting. Please respect the interior and exterior fittings. The fittings are all generally in very good condition.

Immediate relaxation, beautiful views. A perfect place to enjoy the Dordogne in all its wonder. The property is very nicely finished and has all you need for your stay. We are a family of 6 with children ranging from 9 to 17 and they all loved it. 10 min walk to the town for the morning bread and within 15 minute drive of the best kayaking places. Patio was amazing. Breakfast on the terrace with those views will be hugely missed. Pool is a good size and friendly "pool guy" kept it immaculate. Great communication with Spencer from start to finish made the whole stay simple and enjoyable. It is so pretty the listing pictures don't do it justice and they look great! Would go again!

We spent a lovely six days in the Dordogne at Spencer and Stephanie's beautiful farmhouse. It was a fabulous base to explore the local area and we were able to visit some truly memorable sites from Beynac to Les Grottes de Proumeyssac. The pool provided a welcome break from touring the area and the local restaurants and boulangerie were great. Highlights were the village community market on Tuesday night and the delightful dinner we had in Limeuil at Garden Party. Thanks Spencer and Stephanie for sharing your lovely home it was perfect for us and our two boys.

Beautiful location in a silent neighbourhood. The farmhouse has a lovely outside part with a beautifull garden and a great private pool. Sitting on the terrace you can enjoy breathtaking vieuws during the day but an even more beautifull starry sky at night. On the inside the house is very cosy and offering every accomodation neccesary. In the neigbourhood you can visit lots of local markets and also lots of historical sights. The owners - Stephanie and Spencer - are very friendly and helpfull and did everything possible to make our stay very enjoyable. Thanks for everything ! Mieke en Marc Belgium

We had a lovely stay at this property. The house, gardens and surrounding areas were perfect for a family holiday in the Dordogne. We enjoyed the pool, private gardens, eating outside looking at the amazing views ,and playing table tennis. Communication with Spencer was easy and we had access to call a housekeeper if we needed it. I would highly recommend to friends and would go back again. Thank you Spencer.

We stayed at Spencer's gorgeous farmhouse for 6 nights - a group of 5 from Australia. The location is ideal for bike rides and sight seeing. The pool was a real highlight, perfectly clean and surrounded by beautiful scenery. We enjoyed the night markets in the area and the Sunday morning market in St Cyprien. My correspondence with Spencer (in the lead up to, and during our stay) was always prompt. He was extremely helpful and had some wonderful suggestions of things to do and see. The house is presented beautifully, just as pictured - so much character. Highly recommend.

I grew up in this house and own it jointly with my sister Alex and brother Ivan. It's a magical, breath-taking, unique and exciting house. I enjoy travel, classic cars, aviation and playing football (badly).
