The space

Badsfontein is a historic, 6th generation Merino sheep farm situated just 20 minutes outside the town of Murraysburg.
A beautiful garden sheltered amongst old tall trees creates serenity and peacefulness. At Badsfontein, with its natural splendour, you feel one with the surroundings.
Accommodation:
We have three-en suite bedrooms in the main house, which are individually styled, with attention to detail and comfort, high quality towels and linen.
A two bedroom cottage, a double room and a room with two single beds, en-suite bathroom, lounge which includes a kitchenette, air-conditioning and DSTV, situated next to the main house.
Sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee in the early morning while listening to the birds and enjoying the view of the garden, is a true luxury and a treasure!
Activities:
After a tranquil night’s sleep, enjoy a full breakfast in the dining room.
Relax in the lounge area while you plan the day’s activities, which can include hiking, a road trip on the farm to rock paintings, canoeing on the Badsfontein irrigation dam and much more.
Late afternoon, as the sun sets behind the Karoo koppies, you can enjoy sun downers in the veldt and listen to a lamb calling for shelter during the night.
The glittering stars above will show the way home to a candlelight dinner which includes our speciality, Karoo lamb, good wine and homemade dessert.
The Karoo will clear your mind and energise your spirit. You may think you have seen the world, but the Karoo has a beauty of its own.

‘When I admire the wonder of a sunset or the beauty of the moon my soul expands in worship of the Creator' - M. Ghandi.
Come and rediscover the beauty and tranquillity of our country's vast open expanses and reconnect with nature.
Come and enjoy Badsfontein's Karoo hospitality.
The name, Badsfontein, comes from the fountain near the old farmhouse. According to history there was an ox wagon route running through the farm, and the travellers use to bathe (“bad”) in the fountain to get relief from the dry dust and heat of the Karoo. Susanna van der Merwe has developed the farm into a guest farm – again providing recuperation for weary travellers or anyone needing a rest from life’s journey.
The Karoo is a very remarkable place with its windmills (“windpompe”), rocky outcrops and semi-desert vegetation. Izak`s farming motto is: you do not farm with sheep, but with Karoo veld and the animal is just the harvest machine that convert the veld into a marketable product- natural Karoo lamb and pure wool.! Badsfontein also offers a host of activities; however, the peace and quiet is what is attractive of this destination. But most important, the traditional, hearty food with naturally spiced Karoo lamb is the reason why guests return.
