The Historic Brooks House was built in 1900 and offers guests a private pass-coded entrance to their 3 room suite. A superior alternative to a hotel. Large front porch. Includes, microwave, fridge and coffee service. Local Tax is already in room price!

The space

Built in 1900, The Brooks House is one of the oldest homes in Mineola and is just opening its rooms to the public following the houses restoration completed in 2015. This was the residence of The Brooks family who owned the Cotton Gin and Brooks Department store downtown dating back to the early 1900's. The House has 4 suites each with their own private entrance protected by a passcode that guests receive from the owner in advance of their stay. Each suite has a large living room, a spacious bedroom and a private bath. All suites have guest controlled central heat and air. The front suites have direct access to the large porch. Two of the suites have Jacuzzi Tubs. Presently The Brooks Suite and the The Graham Suite are open and available to guests. The Brooks Suite is located on the North side of the house with an entrance on the main porch and was Cora and Barney Brooks bedroom. An original "extra long" claw foot tub is in the bathroom in addition to a separate shower.
The Graham Suite is named after LR Graham who was Mineola's first store owner. (Graham Street is named after LR) The Graham Suite is tastefully decorated with antiques and art offering a glimpse of what Graham's interests likely were back at the turn of the Century. The Graham Suite has a single Jacuzzi Tub and direct access from the main porch.

Guest access

Guests are welcome to enjoy the front porch and walk the Grounds. Its a short walk to antique shops, the Historic Museum and numerous restaurants and shops. Visit the Mineola nature Preserve or have a cupcake from Cupcake wars winner The Luscious Crumb located just down the street. A short drive to First Monday in Canton.

Interaction with guests

If you need to speak with the owner he is available anytime via cell phone and is happy to answer guests questions about the history of the house and can provide information, directions and suggestions to guests to make the most of their stay.

This place is wonderful and much bigger than it appears online! A huge living room, a spacious bedroom, and a comfortable bathroom. Getting in and out was so easy and Vic was incredibly accommodating on short notice! What a great place in a great town.

We enjoyed the house, especially in the quaint town of Mineola. The house is only a few blocks from the historic downtown where a classic "Rialto type" of theater has first-run movies, a friendly crowd gathers at the Kitchens restaurant with live music and plenty of antique shops if you're into that. We went in July where it's a bit warm but still had a great time. We went to a very nice nature preserve only two or three miles away. Great long weekender for Dallasites, especially.

What a great value for the money! We had been traveling for a while, so the easy access through the code on the lock was greatly appreciated. This wonderful historic home is also walking distance from the town which includes a few restaurants and even a bowling alley. I would definitely recommend staying here.

It was such a nice stay! There was a bottle of water in the room waiting for me and the bed was so soft and amazing, I slept like a baby! I couldn't hear the people next door to me. I had a lovely stay and Vic stopped by to check how the room was, it was very nice of him!

The location is quiet, quaint and close to downtown. My nine-year-old and I had a relaxing time. Though Vic was out of town during our stay, he made sure to be available to answer any questions.
