Anri lives in a beautiful home in the woods. We saw her neighbours trekking about 50 metres from their sauna to the icy cold river for a plunge. Finnish people love their saunas. Anri has a sauna and we enjoyed it but didn't take an icy river plunge. We went to a divine restaurant about 10 km further north and enjoyed walking in the Fell. THe environment is so beautiful that we're coming back but the next time in January rather than in September. Anri's house was nice and clean and comfortable. We never bothered to cook though, other than breakfast, because the restaurants relatively nearby were so good (avoid the closest one where the camper vans stay because the food was very poor there!).

Response from Anri:
Thanks to Allison for a visit and a recommendation. The January ice cold, Auroras, starry light in the moonlight await you in a new adventure. I'm sorry to hear the poor dining experience at the nearest restaurant. Here's so many opportunities to find good dining in these many restaurants in the area. Good when you found one for yourself too. I can now recommend the guests to a tasty restaurant. Thank you. Until next time

It is not easy to review this place. It is difficult to describe Anri, her incredibly generous hospitality, her warm friendliness that immediately makes you feel at home, as if you'd known her forever, the thoughtful, perceptive person that she is, and the kindness and care she showed, including when I injured my knee in a hike on the first day. Although I ended up with less movement, I am thankful for getting to spend enough quiet time in the forest, which was all I wanted- to appreciate its sounds and colors, to meet its animal inhabitants, and to experience the unforgettable high of taking a dip in the cold creek after the sauna. You could sit or wander for hours without meeting a human soul, but you can also easily walk to Kiilopää or Kakslauttanen where you could meet other travelers and tourists and participate in guided activities if you wished. The cottage itself is very nice- too nice, in fact, that if I come back to Lapland I think I might want to do away with some of its modern comforts. But this was an unforgettable first experience of this part of the globe, especially for someone coming from far away and who could use the help, insights and lovely company of a wonderful local. I cannot thank Anri enough. I left a piece of myself here, and I took in a fresh air that I hope to keep forever.

Ann is really great host. The driver didn't know the name of the bus station, so she came and helped, and she gave us lots of help and useful information. We felt at home and local people there. The room is really clean and tidy, and it's really unforgettable to live in a wooden house with all beautiful Sami decoration. The sauna was interesting, we even play with snow during it! The star at night was really bright and shining, the wildness was really curing. It will be definitely unforgettable experience. Kiitos avusta ja hauska tavata!
