Our house at Kenton–on–Sea is called River's Edge because it is really on the bank of the Bushman’s River. Stroll down a green lawn path right into the water.
It is light, bright sunny and friendly with spectacular sunsets.
A perfect holiday spot!

Rivers Edge is really well located right on the river bank. It is really spacious and very well furnished. The bedrooms are lovely and there are plenty of them. We had teenage boys with us, so the downstairs apartment worked really well. Lesley was fantastic, always available whe…
Response from Lesley:
We keep our home at kenton as a holiday home .Primarily it was bought as a home from home for our boys who were at St Andrews in Grahamstown close by as we live in Cape Town which is 10 hours away and I visited 11 or 12 times a year.As the boys have now left I rarely have the luxury to spend time there and my visits are down to 2 or 3 times a year. . It is difficult to run a home from this distance and by and large my local staff do well despite the fact that they naturally have no idea of the concept of luxury hostelry. However I am giving employment to the local people rather than hiring professionals to come in.This booking was made only made days a few days before arrival and Micki then told me she couldn't go in on her normal day which was the day before the guests arrived as she was writing an exam for nursing in Port Elizabeth- this also caught me off guard and I think in the flurry she forgot about the toilet paper and soaps etc..I am devastated that she didn't ask me for money to replenish this.I am so sorry. However Micki does know my policy of soaps and toilet paper, salt ,pepper and coffee ,tea and all cleaning agents.Having said this it is self catering and as is the norm one only leaves enough for the first day or so and then guests are expected to buy their own. However old soaps are definitely not acceptable. River's Edge is an old sea side home which obviously had older bathrooms.I have slowly over the years redone every one except the main which although old is still light, bright and spotless with exceptional views over the river. Every year I do an upgrade this certainly is on the list.Having said that no one has complained before so I am pleased to have the feedback. At R4200 per night sleeping 12 one is only paying 350 per head which I don't think is expensive. The house is on the river ,completely secure, well maintained, serviced and I have tried to retain a lived in feeling although is is a holiday home -not a bed and breakfast with the host close by. I am however most apologetic for any inconvenience. Lesley
