This is an historic hotel with newly updated rooms and a bar/restaurant downstairs. The room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed dining in the restaurant and having after-dinner drinks in the bar. This is a great value!

Love the Troyeville hotel, I have been coming there for years but have never stayed there until now. Good, clean rooms, authentic local vibe and excellent restaurant. The location is very convenient to vibing downtown Joburg.

We as a couple really felt at home in Laurence's hotel, we really got good hospitality from him and his employees. The room was properly prepared for us and we also enjoyed the fresh rolls for our breakfast. We appreciate that you allowed us to stay in your hotel already before lunch and for taking good care of our lagage.

Great to stay at this iconic Joburg landmark, fantastic view of the Joburg skyline! Very close to Maboneng and Ellis Park, convenient for an overnight stay if you have to get to the airport. Laurence was very welcoming and accommodating, showing me the newly renovated rooms, which looked great. I stayed in one of the older room and it was clean and very comfortable. Fantastic Portuguese restaurant in the hotel, where I had a delicious dinner - it was packed with Portuguese people, a good sign! Happy hour in the hotel was great for a few beers and some half-price calamari. All in all, a great stay at a good price. Will definitely stay here again. Can only recommend.

This a gem of a hotel infused with the vibrancy of inner city Johannesburg. The rooms, with satellite tv, are clean, comfortable and serviced daily. The hotel boasts numerous restaurant areas, one a sports bar, which also serves craft beers, while another outdoor eating area has sweeping views of the city skyline. The Portuguese fare is delicious and reasonably priced and there a variety of daily specials. The staff are magnificent and the hotel manager mingles among the patrons. The hotel has a very local feel to it and appears a popular local watering hole for a cosmopolitan crowd. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the Ellis `Park rugby stadium and its museum a few minutes from the Maboneng cultural precinct and OR Tambo International Airport is a 20 minute taxi ride. The fast bus link terminus is practically on the hotel's door step, and the bus network takes you all over the city and its suburbs. A great stop over and thoroughly enjoyed.
