We had a lovely week at Joan's cottage in Grogport. The cottage is paces from a beautiful beach in a very peaceful and remote location. Lots of walks, beaches, castles to explore. We took most of the food we needed for the week and were glad we had done so. This is a perfect place if you really want to get away from everything. The cottage is welcoming and cosy and nice on wet days too. We had some luck sea fishing from the rocks at Grogport and the caravan park at Carradale sells day fly fishing tickets for the carradale river.

Woodside Cottage is in a lovely peaceful location across the road from the beach. Great place to escape to unwind but be aware that there is no internet or mobile phone service in Grogport. We found Carradale the nearest place to get reception. Cottage is very comfortable with plenty of books, games and comfy settees for those wet days. There is a log burner fire which we didn't need to use. As the local water supply is very peaty best to take bottled water with you for drinking and cooking.

Response from Joan:
Hi Fiona. We have a private water system in Grogport. The water is OK to drink but sometime a bit peaty. My housekeeper leaves 4 litres of water but perhaps a good idea to let folk know. Thanks for your helpful comments.

Joan's place is beautiful. We especially like the garden house and back yard for the dog. Walking on the beach and beach combing was a lot of fun. Although secluded, it was a good base for our adventures in Kintyre. We really felt out in the country when we had heavy rain and the water ran brown with peat. This is common in scotland, safe, and made my fiance feel like she was at her grandparent's place up the glen. I would recommend a stay at Joan' place.

This cottage is very lovely and is larger than it looks in the photos. It is well equipped and cosy and comfortable. We enjoyed the peaceful bay, the lovely stream, the rock pools and the wildlife. We managed to see the seal who pops up regularly in the bay and is very curious, we were also lucky enough to see wild sea otters too! The place was lovely and clean and felt like home. It has a nice little back garden with a summer house and you can see the sea and views of Arran from the front window. We had a really lovely time here, it was a good beach for everyone to explore and with Carradale not far away there are other places nearby to explore and a shop to stock up on supplies. The children loved it here, it is the prefect place if you really do want to get away from it all.
