The house is an older home built in the 50s of redwood. The inside photos are taken in late July 2017. The entire interior has been refurbished from floor to ceiling in late 2013 and is like new except for the kitchen, which have the original cabinets installed, although they have been painted, and are fully functional. New appliances, including the fridge, stove, microwave, dish washer, lighting, sink, disposal, and tile floors. Any imperfections are purely cosmetic, kitchen is fully functional

The space

Our place is 1/2 acre+ located on the Eel River in Rio Dell, Ca. . You’ll like our place because of the quiet neighborhood, beautiful yards, the gorgeous redwoods, gas fireplace, on-demand water heater, groovy artwork, and the short trail leading to the majestic Eel river from the back yard for salmon fishing, swimming, miles of walking, etc.... Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families, and pets. We do not have cable TV, but we do have very fast cable internet that includes Roku boxes on both TVs that include Netflix, news, sports, etc, you can also sign onto your cable account for premium channels or use our OTA antenna. The house is very comfortable with 2 available BR and the bedrooms have plenty of closet/drawer space for our guest. The 2 queen beds are very comfortable. There are 2 sleeper type couches that will sleep 2 people comfortably. The bathroom also has new tub/shower, toilet, counter, floors and lighting.. The entire house had the hardwood floors redone in 2013.

Guest access

2 beds are available for our guest. There are also 2 sofa sleepers in the living room. The house has a gas fireplace and central heating... The backyard has a picnic table as seen in the pics, plenty of space to stretch out, breathe, and enjoy the nature... You will have access to the full house except for my daughter's room and the garage, both are used for our personal storage areas.

Interaction with guests

I have a relative who lives in the neighborhood that can assist you when needed.

The host canceled this reservation 10 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

This was a great place to stay to have day trips to be in the Redwoods and visit the Lost Coast. It is spacious, located on the Eel River which was lovely to view the sunset and wade in. The house and yard are a work in progress, and served our purposes well as a home base to explore the area for 4 days.

What a sweet spot! Stayed here with partner and 2 kids. My daughter loved the dolls that were out, and we all loved spending time on the river each day. House is in a quiet little neighborhood, walkable to a small food market. A quick drive to Avenue of the Giants which was amazing!! House had plenty of room for us to stretch out. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals. Bathroom was clean and had good water pressure. Plenty of blankets, towels, pillows, etc. Thanks so much, Tony!

Tony's home is spacious, quite comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. There's plenty of library materials for young and old alike, and for those who have young children plenty of toys and games. It is also apparent that the owners continue to reside here occasionally, as the cupboards are full and personal belongings are in the home, as well. The gas fireplace is awesome and kept us toasty in the early morning chill. Tony was accommodating and easy to communicate with even though he was far away in the Philippines.

First of all, Tony is great and was welcoming and accommodating. However, if I had seen the condition of this property before I rented, I would not have rented it. To be as polite as possible, the house needs needs a lot of TLC both interior and exterior. While, some updates have been made to the house, specifically the family room, the kitchen is in disarray and needs a complete remodeling. The house is old in terms of years and the interior reflects this in condition and decor. Overall, the price paid for the rental was not comparable to the value of the stay.

Response from Tony:
Im not sure what you mean Ken, kitchen in disarray? The complete interior, from the floors to the ceiling, except for the kitchen counters and cabinets were redone in late 2013, early 2014, however, the cabinets/drawers were painted/repaired and are 100% functional, along with everything else in the house, nothing is broken or not working. The kitchen does have new flooring, new lighting, new sink, disposal, and matching appliances, The pics in our listing are from our home, some were taken the last week of April 2017. The house has been barely lived in since the remodel. It is an older home, built in the 1960s with local redwood. The house could use an outside painting which is noticeable from the pictures on our posting, and the roof is only 2 years old. Our house has been enjoyed by many people this year, with only 2 complaints, in which both parties were a day late getting to our residence (I offered both to stay an extra day at no charge) because of airline/travel issues. Im sorry your stay was cut short due to the airlines, and I hope it did not reflect in your review of our place because you paid full price, and could only stay for part of your stay... Good luck with your future stays Ken.

The house is comfortable, located in an okay neighborhood. Kitchen is funky, no regular coffee maker, no toaster, counters and cupboards are falling apart. Food cupboard and freezer are full of old food. Home is darker but comfortable, sits above the beautiful river but with no trail to access it. Curtains lacking on many windows and bbq is a mini Webber. Kitty is sad and lonely. His food is eaten every night by a wild critter. He needs a forever home!

Response from Tony:
Thank you for your response. We don't have a regular coffee maker, we have a Keurig KCup coffee maker there with plenty of KCups for our guest. The interior has been fully remodeled except for the kitchen, which has been painted, new fixtures, sink, etc. The original cabinets are there, but they are recently painted, look good, and work fine. The food in the cabinets are all dried foods such as pasta and beans, and 95% of it is unopened and brand new, there is nothing there that can spoil, and there is still PLENTY of cabinet space for our guest, this should not be an issue. Counters and Cupboards have recently been repainted, and we have had zero previous complaints about them. The back yard has a trail leading directly to the river, you have to walk down the hill to the to the back of the yard and it's right there...been there for many years.. A one minute walk to the river.. The kitty should not be fed at night. Only one handful in the morning and one in the evening as instructed on the back door. We has a lady who comes and cares for with food and love twice a day until I find her a home. Im sorry if you didn't enjoy your stay, you can always text me during your stay, I am always willing to work with you, to try to maintain the standard you desire. Good luck o your future AirBnB stays.

We stayed at Tony's place while in the area to run a marathon. We were a little worried when we pulled up because there were cars in the driveway and the exterior paint needs a recoating. However, we were happy when we got inside. The floors looked like they were redone recently and maybe new appliances and interior paint. There were some things that need updating but they didn't hamper our stay. We were very comfortable. The owner seems really nice and he was very responsive throughout the process.
