We have spent great time in Joanna'a house: the house is really confortable and very pleasant to live, it is full of charm and we feel instantly very well inside. The village is typical and rural, the atmosphere is really peaceful and quiet, a small road with fruits trees leads to the sea in 15-20 minutes by foot, the up way back is a good way to digest the dinner we had in nice tavernas along the sea. The peninsula is full of volcanos, goats, olive trees, almond trees, fig trees, nice tavernas, nice waters to see fishes, nice walks in the countryside....Joanna is a really nice host, always available and very welcoming! We highly recommend this place!

Staying in Joannas house war a great experience. Starting with the easy communication, the warm welcome, the wonderful renovated stone house with air condition (it was quite hot, when we have been there) and space.... which means different spaces in the house and garden/courtyard for every one to find his/her room to read/play/rest. The neighborhood is really rural, beautiful, friendly and quiet. The wine in the pub opposite is highly recommended and you can even get breakfast there, if you ask them one day before (they get you fresh oranges, eggs and vegetable right from the garden next door)! The beach and a nice small harbor is in walking distance, if you don't mind the retourn quite steep back up the hill. But you might need a car anyway to get to the shops and visit the peninsula, which ist worth doing. We highly recommend the walk up to the volcano in the morning time - beautiful view! And least but not last, Jo is a lovely, bright and interesting person, very affectionate also with our kids. We were happy to get to know her a little bit! Thank you Jo for sharing your home and heart!

Joanna's home is amazing. We stayed as a family of 5 and each one of us was won over by the unique charm of the place. It is split over 3 levels, and the outside area also has multiple quiet and secluded spaces to sit and enjoy the beauty of the place. We stayed there for 3 days and could quite happily have spent the whole time at the house, enjoying the views, garden and rooms. Instead we were able to get out and about, helped significantly by Joanna's useful background on the history of the area and where to go. Methana is a peninsula but is effectively an island (a remote one with almost no tourists) and is well worth exploring. There are some beautiful drives along good, and very quiet, roads (we were there in peak season (July) and yet we had the roads mostly to ourselves). We ate at a number of good family restaurants (helped by Jo's recommendations), did a nice walk up to a volcano at sunset, and of course spent time down on the beach. We could easily have spent more time here. We also did a couple of trips to visit nearby sites such as the beautifully preserved amphitheatre at Epidavros (still in use 2,400 years after it was built), and the islands of Poros and Hydra. These were all easily reached as half day trips. This place is a real gem - especially if you prefer a place 'far from the madding crowds'.
