The space

Unplug at this cosy off-grid cabin in the High Peaks region of Western Maine, home to 10 of Maine's 14 mountains over 4000 ft.

This recently renovated camp surrounded by conservation land features living room/kitchen with wood stove, bedroom with queen bed, and full bath with shower. Kitchen with small propane appliances-- stove and fridge with small freezer compartment-- is fully equipped to produce simple meals. There is also a charcoal grill. Generator provides electricity and hot water. Fresh linens are provided. Guests bring their own food, including coffee and tea. (We provide a drip pot, coffee press and tea pot.)

Deck overlooks a class-A trout stream which is a signature Atlantic Salmon Restoration Project habitat.

There are miles of snowmobile, ATV and hiking trails in the area. Bring your hiking boots, mountain bike and fishing rod to explore the woods and streams of this working forest near Saddleback Mountain, or day hike the most beautiful section of the Appalachian Trail in Maine. Peaceful retreat for artists and writers.

Rangeley and the Rangeley Lakes are 45 minutes away for more hiking, canoeing and restaurants. There are several small towns and villages within 45 minutes-- each with its own character. Two well known ski areas, Saddleback and Sugarloaf, are also nearby.

Guide service is available for hiking, fishing and day hikes on the nearby Appalachian Trail.

2 1/2 hours from Portland, 4 1/2 hours from Boston by car. SUV or other high clearance vehicle required for the back roads, and recommended to get to the cabin.

Hope and Loyd’s cabin in the woods is exactly as described. It is very secluded. It offered us privacy and a perfect way to relax and disconnect.
