Uniquely, it's a spacious modern apartment in a c17 Grade 2 listed property. Very private but in the middle of Caversham, the part of Reading north of the River Thames.
You'll have full use of the garden, jetty and balcony . We have a 150 foot long Island as well ...if want to watch the sun set over the river.
Outside car parking is available within the property.
Our lovely cleaner Sarah will do washing, ironing and housework for you by separate negotiation. She's a native and knows everybody and everything.
As much or as little as you want. We are very enthusiastic about where we live. We give Architectural trips around Reading, Henry I is buried here. You are welcome to join us in the garden for cocktails as well.
On the other hand it's a great place if you just want anonymity, peace and quiet.
We are in Central Caversham. Everything is walkable. Waitrose, pubs, restaurants. Caversham has a village atmosphere and is the best residential part of Reading. The Station is 7 mins walk and nonstop trains to London Paddington take 23 mins. Heathrow is 25 mins drive out of rush hour. Reading itself is 10 mins walk and is the vibrant heart of the Thames Valley. It has all major stores and many shopping malls. Reading FC play at the MadStad. They are in the Championship currently. There is a very robust music scene and excellent shows every week at the Hexagon.
Mainline train Station 10 mins. Heathrow 25 mins. Buses on the doorstep. Easy access by train bus or car to London 45 miles, Oxford 26 miles, Ascot 12 miles, Henley 8 miles, Basingstoke 15 miles. M4 ( the main highway west out of London to Bristol) access from junctions 10,11 and 12.
We are very keen to share the things we love about living here and run the following activities:-
MTB or road cycle trips in the Chilterns which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ( AONB). This is a range of wooded hills on our door step with some surprisingly steep and spikey climbs. We can do anything between a Sunday dawdle to an 80 miler.
We own a 1953 Andrews Slipper launch and its moored at the bottom of the garden and do visits to the royal Regatta at Henley or your own trip with a decent bottle of fizz.
Architectural and historic visits in and around Reading. The town hall is by Waterhouse, RC church by Pugin, Butter Market Gilbert Scott. Remains of Henry I in the Abbey ruins. Kennet and Avon canal from Bristol joins Thames in Reading. Excellent towpath walks. We are happy to accommodate and change to what ever suits.
