This unique space in a historic building is really one of a kind. In the mid 1800's it was a handwriting school for local children but now it's been lovingly revived to offer a spacious and tranquil place for you to relax and recharge. It's in a central town location with bike storage space. It's minutes walk from local amenities and is the perfect base for walkers and for exploring the many beautiful beaches, woodlands and coastal walks Cornwall has to offer.

The space
The School Room is part of the main house (The School House) with its own entrance. It offers a spacious living, dining and sleeping area on the first floor in a studio style, with great views from its huge windows of the old part of Helston and the countryside beyond. There is a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and a shower room with sink and toilet facilities on the ground floor. It has its own entrance through a shared garage. Note: the garage entrance floor is a little uneven and if you're tall you may need to duck as the School Room door is only 5ft 10" . The School Room itself has lofty ceilings.

A FLAVOUR OF THE LOCAL AREA .......... Helston has a number of interesting old buildings dating mainly from the 18th century and if you pick up a heritage trail map from the museum, this lists key sites around the town. The museum is definitely worth a visit if you want to find out about the history of the local area. There are beautiful walks in easy reach of the School Room and one of my favourites is the Penrose Estate (5 mins from your door), a magical place in nature. Helston has lots of shops, pubs and restaurants and The Blue Anchor pub needs a special mention! It's a must for real ale enthusiasts, as it brews its own (Spingo) on the premises. My favourite cafe and restaurant is CAST (arts & cultural centre), their simple, tasty menu of wholesome, good food is always a treat, they also have an event programme that's worth keeping an eye on. The boating lake at the bottom of the hill has a cafe too and is a lovely place to go, sit and have an ice cream while watching the ducks, geese and swans, you can even hire a bike there in season. If you want to explore further afield, Porthleven, with it's beautiful harbour, beach and many eateries and galleries is always a great place to have a wander.
