Originally the "servant's quarters" this room is located at the top of the servants stairway, which leads to the kitchen and the lower level bathrooms. Full sized bed. Looks out over the back yard and the horse pasture to the east. A 5% state excise tax is due upon check in.

The space

Designed as the servant's quarters, the Pink Room is the smallest of the bedrooms. Located at the back of the house, the sunrise may be enjoyed as well as a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside and the back yard. Furnished with a full sized bed, guests will wake to the smells of coffee and breakfast cooking wafting up the servant's stairway just outside the room

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire lower floor of the house, which included the living room with a fireplace and television, the dining room and the piano room. There is also a large sun porch which is available year round. The large landscaped yard offers ample seating and a firepit for evenings roasting marshmellows.

Interaction with guests

The owners/managers will be accessible at all times to the guests, however, if privacy is desired, this can also be accommodated. We love to meet and get to know our guests and treasure the many friendships that have developed over the years.

Other things to note

A 5% state excise tax will be charged at time of checkout. This is not included in the listing price of the room.

I was in a hurry (and desperate because of it being Ragbrai to find something that night) when I booked with Brenda, I don't think I even read the whole description, so I was surprised by the farm animals! Alpacas were so cute, chickens, horses, donkey, dog and cats. What a lovely setting and a very cool 99 year old house which Brenda loves (it shows). We ended up having dinner there as well as breakfast, and both meals were delectable and plentiful...this coming from cyclists who had been eating their way across Iowa. The home cooked meals were so great. Brenda was very warm and she is super energetic, so everything was spotless and perfect.

Brenda was a very attentive host. The charming old farm house was in great condition and amazingly clean. We enjoyed chatting with Brenda about the happenings at the house and the area. Breakfast was delicious and left me needing to loosen my belt. We will look forward to spending time here again when our travels take us back this way to see family.

Brenda is wonderful, she makes you feel at home, without the chores! We were in Iowa for a graduation, other than that, we've never had a reason to go to Iowa, but now we are hoping to return to her B&B. It's a big beautiful home, in a quiet area just about a 20 min. drive to the University. It was our first B&B experience, but now it seems like the way to travel, much nicer experience than a hotel. The breakfast was so much better, it's clean and she made sure we had everything we needed. Loved it!
