I booked the riverside cottage room for my family. They loved the stay and I was told that the place is simple n neat, crispy towels n bedsheets, very pleasant n very helpful people, yummy homely breakfast and lovely riverside except the annoying mosquitoes. The communication was quick and easy. They were very flexible and accomodating with our requests. Thank you Basil & Annie.

The place was as depicted and we found the accommodations nice and very clean. Basil communicated with us well beforehand. We enjoyed that they served breakfast and helped us book activities in Kerala. However one of the activities we booked through the host was a bit of a rip off as they rushed us through the boat trip and we did not get to do many of the activities we were supposed to. Not the host's fault and certainly has no impact on the homestay itself but we wished he had been familiar with a better houseboat tour operator.

Mr Basil and Mrs Annie's Heritage bungalow is so untouched, picturesque, close to nature and beautifully kept. For the nominal tariff, it's a priceless gift of nature that one can enjoy for a few days at ease. We stayed in Room No 1, which is a part of the Heritage Bungalow, and the long glazed terracotta colored veranda faces a farm full of Mango and Cashew trees, and just a small walk from here is a jaw-dropping view of the Vembanad lake, that is visible from end to end, and one can sit by the bench here for view sake, and right before the bench and at the start of the water view is a Chinese fishing net. On both sides just before this lake area are homes of Mr Basil's tenants that look after the property. There is arrangement of a night security guard too. Mr Basil is always on foot and looking after the needs of his guests, and he's so polite and caring, that he even provided us personal drop facility at will. Mr Basil arranged our pick up and guided us for eateries and arranged an appointment with an Ayurveda doctor, upon our request. He suggested a traditional lunch place on arrival, and you may too ask him for this tip if you fancy such a meal - it was a vegetarian feast on a banana leaf spread, washed down some Ayurveda infused water. The room we stayed in, is real value for money and the bathroom is super good. Bed is comfortable. The room has a TV, double bed, dressing table, windows with mosquito net, a universal adapter and a hot water kettle - and there is the provision of tea / coffee saches on the house. The wifi is good inside the room, didn't try it in the veranda, but I didn't care much as I had data on my phone. Words are not enough to describe the view of the Vembanad lake from this property - it's like your living by the beach and in a resort :) I can say this for sure as I stayed in a resort in Kumarakom, and honestly this view of the lake had great access and an amazing expanse. I would like to thank Mr Basil and Mrs Annie for their kind guidance and for looking after my mother and myself - it felt like a vacation with our extended family. The breakfast was Puttu, egg curry and fresh mangoes, all made so lovingly and served generously by Mrs Annie with homemade fresh coffee and bananas. I'm glad we booked a part of our stay in Kerala through Mr Basil's listing, and we hope to visit again. Totally recommend this place for an authentic experience of blessed nature! I would say, stay at least 2 nights. City is 1 KM from Mr Basil's home, so I would suggest you get any required supplies and medicines from Kochi itself (if that's your entry point), as most medical...

This was a beautifully located place by the water with a lovely well kept garden. It is located in a quiet area but just a short ride with rickshaw to Fort Kochi. Basil was most helpful in arranging transportations and in giving practical tips and recommendations. I unfortunately was ill for a few days (unrelated to our stay here) and Basil was very kind and gave me different medications that helped me recover quickly. One good thing to know for other travellers is that there is no access to your own fridge or kitchen so in case you want to prepare anything one is quite dependent on the hosts, but Basil is a very engaged and attentive. However, Female travellers may perceive him as a bit dominant. We did have one misfortune though, which we discovered once we had left, with two pieces of garment destroyed in the laundry supplied by our hosts. We would have appreciated if we were told rather than discovering it afterwards. But all in all we had a good experience and would recommend this!

Basil's place is nice with a river at the back. Sunsets and book reading by the river were some of the best moments in Kochi. Basil was helpful and the family equally helpful and family. If you don't mind staying further from Fort Kochi, this is a good place to be at !

After 4 days in Munnar we returned to the comfort of the Riverside Cottage. We were welcomed back by Basil, Annie and Neel and his family. This time we had the slightly bigger room in the cottage and it was as clean and comfortable as the other. Everyone went out of their way to help us in any way they could.
