My modern and comfortable one bedroom apartment with 5m high ceilings has a true city feeling! It comfortably fits two and is centrally located in Woodstock, just one block from the Woodstock Exchange. Enjoy a gourmet kitchen, and city views.
I have set up a very comfortable modern studio apartment in Woodstock. The whole place is 72 square meters with four - maybe five meter high ceilings and steel beams. The one wall has industrial windows stretching its entire length and overlooks Woodstock and the city, and beyond to the mountains Lion's Head and Signal Hill.
The top floor apartment (2nd floor) has terrazzo floors (beautiful polished concrete), and there's a secure undercover parking space in the garage below.
The space has been split up into a lounge area featuring a day bed and a late 1950's Danish rocking chair - and other things that make up a living room.
This space borders the dining area - with a table and benches hand-made by a friend's dad out of Kiaat - a very beautiful African Teak wood.
This area is adjacent to the kitchen which is fully kitted out with good enamel coated cast-iron pots, a small Swiss Diamond non-stick omelette pan, a kettle and a toaster and a stove-top Bialetti coffee maker, and a Bodum milk frother. Some lovely crockery and crystal wine glasses - anyway - you get the idea.
The bedroom has a quality queen sized double bed, with locally produced high thread count linen, and Hungarian goose down pillows. The bed is flanked by two sheep skins and Doktor and Misses (from Johannesburg) bed side table lamps.
The bathroom has a shower, concrete basin, and locally sourced finishes from Pedersen & Lennard (they're also based in Woodstock).
The apartment contains a mix of new and 1950's and 1960's ornaments and furniture.
There is also a portable bluetooth speaker so that you can listen to some tunes. Unfortunately there is no TV.
You're a minute's walk from the main road to easily catch taxis or buses into town. Which is only 5 minutes away.
About a minute or two walk you can get to the Woodstock Exchange which among other things has a bar called The Golden, and several eatery places like Superette, Ocean Jewels, and Field Office - which also has free WiFi.
Local Food Places: (less than 5 minutes drive)
The Test Kitchen
The Pot Luck Club
Old Biscuit Mill
The Local Grill
Other cool design stuff:
Pedersen & Lennard
The Woodstock Exchange
Salt River Arcade
Woodstock Cycle Works
You will have access to the whole apartment.
Interaction with guests
I don't live at the apartment full-time. But I live quite close by, so I'm happy to interact as little or as much as you want - like going out to dinner or to a bar with you or show you around the mountains. And if anything goes wrong while you are staying in the apartment, I can be there very quickly to sort it out.
Other things to note
There is 24 hour security - with remote operators watching cameras. There are also beams and locked inter leading doors etc . There are block-out blinds to help you sleep like a baby - or a rock. And curtains to subdue some of the light.
Also - the wireless Internet is a 10MB optical fibre connection that I share with my neighbour.
Please no smoking in the apartment.

Hello - I love good food, commuting on my bicycle, skill, craftsmanship, simplicity, clarity, fruit, dark chocolate and music. I really dislike franchises and corporations, waiting, forms, pretension, running out of loo paper, discovering the milk you used for your coffee was sour, littering, awkward goodbyes, a car that doesn't want to start, and wind. Traffic lights bore me. I love it when summer arrives, and you feel the warmth on your skin, and endless summer days. But it disappoints me that I rarely slow down to actually feel it. Sometimes it depresses me that the task of brushing my teeth daily and doing my laundry once a month is never done. Though an (almost) daily shower I do find quite satisfying. I like getting lost in big cities, and the anonymity on planes and in airports. I used to live in London - and most of my time was spent seeking out concerts, exhibitions, and playing frisbee and swimming in the ponds on Hampstead Heath. I enjoy a good wine, and smearing chocolate onto my bread. Warm bread especially. I design software for a living - but prefer motorbike trips through the Karoo and sweating on hot dusty roads. Camping by the side of the road. Big cities excite me - like London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Mumbai, Beijing and Berlin - but there's nothing quite like a road trip through Africa. I like dream-pop, and folk music, and Bruce Springsteen. My dog is called Bonnie "Prints" Harry. Though he also goes by Bones, Boney, Bonz and Bonedizzle. I have watched The Office hundreds of times. I like things clean and neat - but lived-in, and tactile, and patina brings me great joy. There's art on my walls (paintings, drawings, photography), and books in my bookshelves. I like quality - I prefer things that last a lifetime. But I also hate things. Having things. I value a good kitchen knife, and a good pot, and a good mattress. But in the end, it's relationships that matter. And when in doubt, spend more time in nature.
