The space

Extremely cozy and quiet, stylishly furnished 40,5 m²/436 ft² apartment right in the heart of Helsinki!

The apartment is located in charming Kruununhaka, one of the oldest districts in Helsinki. The area hosts some lovely small boutiques, restaurants and cozy cafeterias, several grocery stores, parks and children's playgrounds. Some of the main tourist attractions are within a few minutes walk, as is the main shopping area and the main Railway Station with all it's transportation connections. The University of Helsinki is located practically next door. The busy areas in central Helsinki are within a few tram stops, as is the bohemian Kallio district with it's bars, cafe's, flea markets and small designer boutiques. Despite the central location, Kruununhaka is a very quiet district with little traffic. The apartment itself is on a pedestrian street making it even more quiet. For a special experience, try sleeping with windows open and be ready to be disturbed by only blackbirds' singing (which can be surprisingly loud at times)!

The apartment features a livingroom, a small bedroom, a modern kitchenette and a bathroom. It is furnished with respect to the art nouveau style of the building but with a touch of modern simplicity, and it comes fully equipped for long, comfortable stays.

House Rules

Smoking is not allowed inside the building or on the balconies. Please go out to the courtyard or front door for a cigarette.

The building observes silence between 10pm and 8am, please refrain from excess noise between these hours.

You are welcome to read the books in my library, but please treat them with care, they are very important to me.

You are welcome to play the piano, but please note that it is very old (and at the moment not perfectly tuned), so treat it with respect.

In addition to the books and the piano, the apartment also has several other items that are old and fragile and that I have inherited from my family. Please treat them with care and respect as they are invaluable to me and hopefully create a unique athmosphere for my guests.

Pets are welcome. My cat does live there normally, but won't be around when I have guests.

The best part of the apartment is hostess, she is very helpful and flexible. Both apartment and location are nice. I like that there are a lot of kitchen suppliances you have there that makes you feel as home (spicies, tea, coffee, oil, etc) and makes life easier. Minor minuses that make sense only if you stay a bit longer - small kitchen and loose light (but I guess that is finnish thing).

I cannot emphasize enough how delightful it was staying at Ninni's lovely flat. It is within easy walking distance of key Helsinki sites, but charmingly tucked away in a residential enclave that feels far removed from the city center. The apartment is meticulously cared for, thoughtfully stocked, and beautifully serene. Close to all the amenities one needs to make a self-catering stay successful, the flat was the perfect place to return to after attending a conference at the University. Ninni herself is very kind and forthcoming with advice on how I might make the most of my stay. Highly recommend!

Ninni is a wonderful host and super flexible and willing to help. Her apartment is indeed very closely and the location is superb. You are close to everything and yet there is still peace, quiet and nature within walking distance. The bed and pillows are awesome and the compact kitchen is very handy!!

Ninni is a super host - very kind, flexible and helpful. The apartment is absolutely beautiful, and very well located in a charming area. We really enjoyed our stay. Some minor practical details are the reason for giving 4 stars and not 5 stars - small dark kitchen, soft bed etc. I truly recommend staying in the apartment.

Ninni was a perfect host: we arrived very late in the night and she was there at 1h30 night, the flat was cleaned and well equipped (no TV but we really didn't care !). location perfect , central and close to tramway and parks, but quiet . really a good first experience with airbnb !
