Great check-in experience

Recent guests loved the smooth start to this stay.
Little Greenie was the first and only house in NZ to get a 9 out of 10 Hers rating (energy efficiency). The original work of art.

A perfect couple's retreat - private, romantic, tranquil with stunning views and a bath under the stars.

The space
If you want to enjoy the still winter days in Golden Bay, this holiday house catches all the afternoon sun, stores it, and maintains a comfortable temperature.

Little Greenie may appear to be just another modern, professionally finished house with stunning views in a beautiful location. Of course everyone will notice some differences sooner or later, but those interested in environmental technology and smart building will find the differences go right down to the foundations.

Little Greenie is designed with four major principles in mind: Energy efficiency, low maintenance/longevity, ease of construction and value for money. It may be modern, but it’s not about frills or fashion; and while it is unashamedly utilitarian, it’s definitely not drab or boring.

**Ideal space for a relaxing getaway, ideal for couples
**Modern conveniences and comforts
**Close to a range of activities
**Craftsman's attention to detail
**Extremely energy efficient
**Warm all year round

There's no TV or wifi but you'll be entertained all the same:

Beautiful Sunsets - over the water in winter and the mountains in summer.
Walk to Wainui Falls -through lush original forest and over a swing bridge.
Go swimming or birdwatching - the clear waters around Wainui Bay are ideal
Paddleboarding and kitesurfing - awesome spot with northwesterly winds, flat water in the estuary with high tide and waves out in the beach.

Facilities:
**Superking bed - can split into singles ($30 charge)
**Indoor shower, compost toilet and outdoor bath
**Radio, CD player, Stereo with media player connection
**Fridge/freezer, cooker/oven and BBQ
**Fully equipped kitchen with tea, coffee/plunger, milk powder, sugar, olive oil
**Linen and bedding provided
**Underfloor heating

The closest restaurants and cafes are in Pohara, 15 min drive back toward Takaka, where there is also a mini supermarket which sells a range of food and wine.
The closest supermarket is in Takaka, about 25 km from our place.

We don't have internet facilities, but there is 3G/4G reception in the area if you bring your own device.

Our policy regarding children is:
Under 6 months with own bedding there is no charge
Over 6 months:
-If you bring your own cot and bedding there will be an $30 cleaning fee
-If we supply cot and bedding the normal rate of $30 per night per extra person applies
Our experience has shown that as soon as kids are crawling our cleaning services increase more than with adults, particularly with the large window areas we have in the houses. They use the same linen and hot water and that is why we apply the same fee.

Guest access
Each house is extremely private and surrounded by bush with views over Wainui Bay. There is a shared guest laundry at the big green shed and you are welcome to walk up/down the driveway to the road and beach. Depending on vacancies you may be able to view the other houses but please respect privacy of others and always ask us first.

Other things to note
In keeping with our environmental philosophy we use composting toilets.
Shared washing machine, dryer and washing liquid available at the big shed. Machines take 3 x $2 coins.
No dogs allowed.
