Cavedon’s Kilnhouse provides two luxurious high living spaces, polished concrete floors, beautiful bedrooms, spa bath and has floor to ceiling views of our vineyard and Mount Buffalo.
An architecturally designed sensation – simple yet sophisticated
From the road, Cavedon’s Kilnhouses appear as an old tobacco Kiln in the middle of the paddock. Up close, it is a architecturally designed sensation – simple, sophisticated, modern and luxurious. The Kilnhouses capture the features of the Oven’s Valley in north-east Victoria – with a crisp and modern twist.
Cavedons kilnhouse is situated within Alpine Angus cattle farm with stunning views of Mt Buffalo, and in winter, snow-capped Mt Feathertop and Mt Bogong. The Melbourne architect is Sally Draper and the interior designer, Russell Grainger. The house has soaring ceilings in the lounge areas, floor to ceiling windows, polished concrete floors and contemporary luxurious fittings and the most comfortable window seat with views in the alpine valley!
Heating is via concrete floor heating, wood fires and reverse cycle air conditioners. Luxury linen is supplied and the bathrooms with spa have Aesop and Salus bath products. Kitchens are extremely well equipped with a range of kitchen appliances and a generous supply of stylish tableware is stocked in cupboards. There is a choice of T2 teas and MAP coffee machine and pods and other staples. Most of the guests of the kilnhouses are return guests. Once experienced, people always come back!
In the summer, the outdoor spaces have stylish tables, outdoor candles and of course the cows, vineyards and mountains. Two ‘classic’ Chapelli bikes are located in the garage for riding to the nearby wineries (1 km), Bright Berry farm (3 km) the rail trail café Porepunkah (5 km) the ‘chinaman’s waterhole’ in the ovens river (1 km), or at 11km, Bright Brewery, Bright cafes and restaurants.
Guests will have access to whole house.

I live on Alpine Angus Cattle Stud with my young family, and I manage the beautiful kilnhouses located on the farm. Each of the architecturally designed kilnhouses offers stunning views of Mt Buffalo, vineyards on the farm and of course, sleek black angus cows in the paddocks. My job is to attend to all the details needed to make sure guests enjoy the unique and contemporary experience the kilnhouses offer.
Any spare time I have, I roll out on my bike on the many fabulous bike friendly roads in the Buckland valley, out to Wandiligong and with some more training-Mt Buffalo!
