Moved here in 1990, our 1940's home was once the Officer's Quarters at Velox Naval Depot. You will enjoy your privacy in the above garage apartment that was once the maids quarters. The apartment has recently been beautifully refinished.

The space

The Maids Quarters has been recently refinished and sleeps two in a cozy double bed. You will find all the necessities including a mini fridge, microwave and a Keurig with an assortment of coffees and teas for your caffeine needs.

A cot or play pen are available for an additional fee of $10. Please request during inquiry so I can edit the fees.

Guest access

The Maids Quarters is very secure with private access through the coded outer door and lockable apartment door at the top of one flight of stairs.

You are welcome to use the back yard with horseshoe pits and the deck at your leisure. An evening at the fire pit that can be arranged with the host.

Interaction with guests

We are here to make your stay enjoyable. Any questions we can answer about the area are welcome. We live in the main house and I am a stay home mom, so I am often around and love a good chat.

Other things to note

Full bathroom has a bathtub with a handheld shower (Euro style). It is under the dormer (ceiling slopes down toward faucet) and is only functional as a stand up shower for hobbit size folks or smaller.

The Maids Quarters is stocked with games, extra necessities you may have forgotten, as well as books & guides to the area. If you start a book you want to finish, please feel free to take it with you.

We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a house rabbit in the main house and yard, however the Maids Quarters is a pet free zone.

There are multiple honey bee hives on the property. They are very interesting to sit and watch and are as gentle as can be. It is best to approach them from the side, out of their flight path and try not to look like a black bear (wear light colored clothing). I do keep epi pens on hand in the highly unlikely chance you get stung.

A lovely, well situated, cosy apartment over a garage/shed. Bathroom is charming (hexagonal tiles, color-coordinated towels), although the bathtub/shower is a bit small (under the eaves). Bed is perhaps smaller than you would want for two people.

Response from Jody:
Thank you for your kind words. Please note that the description of the property indicates that the shower is really only functional for shorter people, but has a hand shower for bathing.

The Maids Quarters is a lovely, well furnished private guesthouse. Jody has covered every detail (snacks, local information, bathrobes, unit manual). The reservation process and all further communications were easy, prompt, efficient. Jody is available as needed yet you have complete privacy. The grounds are lovely. We enjoyed exploring the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene areas on bicycle. These are fun cities to explore with interesting sites and activities. We highly recommend this guesthouse and hope to return.

This was are very first time using the airbnb app. I was a little sceptical about it! After staying at Jodys place it's going to be very difficult for the next person to out rank them! The locations was perfect, there where midnight snacks for us and breakfast! I love how there was NO TV because my husband and I stayed up very late playing cards and janga and we got to bond to gather! The bathroom was adorable and I love how homey it felt! This was 100% better than a hotel room! When we go back to Spokane I will deffienabtly stay at this place again!

Jody has a lovely little place with beautiful garden and dogs. Our stay here was very comfortable. Jody has taken all the steps to make you feel at home and little things like chargers, coffee machine and iron press are just perfect when you are on a work trip. Thanks a lot Jody

*I live life, not worry about or fear it.
*I love creatures. Besides 3 people our family consists of 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 rabbits and several bee hives. I never pass up a zoo.
*I love to build/rebuild and create whether it be a garden, craft project, light fixture or a vintage trailer.
*I love to see the world either camping or flying to foreign lands. My favorite places have been the jungles of Belize in a one room casita with no electricity and subzero winter in Stockholm. I love history, castles, ruins and old junk.
*I am cheap. I buy used clothes, used furniture, used cars. I travel cheap. I don't need stylish hotels...I plan to be out doing stuff, not hanging out there... however I love a comfy bed. Hoity Toity would never be used to describe me.
*My bucket list: Drive a piece of heavy equipment, visit Machu Picchu, skydive, learn to weld....
