The space

Very charming appartment in the heart of a trendy aera. Between the Place de la République (5 metro lines, lots of busses) and the Canal Saint-Martin. Easy to walk around and reach major spots, even by foot (very close to le Marais, Bastille in one direction, and to Belleville in another) .
Appartment is in a quiet street, 5th floor of a classical haussmanian building, with elevator.
It's a 60 meters square, has a sunny balcony, great for romantic breakfasts ! Classical interoriors for a classic parisian experience : wooden floor, fireplaces and their elegant mirrors.
The flat has one bedroom nice and quiet (on the inside courtyard) with a top quality double bed (Simmons), a double living room (one part includes a coach, TV, table and chairs / the other part is a reading room with a desk and filled with books !). The kitchen is fully equipted, the bathroom has a nice walk-in shower.
Internet very hight speed, hi-fi, washing machine, dishwasher.
Baby bed can be added if needed. A child can also sleep on the coach.

Very well located, it's a great place for a couple who wants to enjoy Paris, in an authentic and arty aera, full of life, restaurants, cafés, original boutiques and designers of every kind.
Not to mention that one of the best boulangeries is right at the corner !
You will love the Canal Saint-Martin and its unforgettable scenery along the water.

I'll be happy to share all my tips and advice and make you feel at home !

Maia's apartment was the perfect place to stay during the holidays. It is very comfortable, lovely, and spacious. Maia was there to greet us, and made us feel very welcome. It is an easy few steps to the Place de la Republique and the Metro station there. It is also surrounded by delicious patisseries and specialty shops.

We loved the apartment! Well located, easy walk to Republic metro, or surface walk to many areas. The neighborhood is full of bistros, groceries, patissiers, cafes, and a few short blocks to bank, post office and the lovely canal area. Could not have found a more congenial spot for a week in Paris.

Maïa and her home are both lovely. The apartment itself is charming and spacious (given the central Paris context), and the location is pretty tough to beat. Right on the Place Republique, there are good metro connections and many Velib stations nearby (this bike share service is a great way to see Paris by bike, highly recommended by both my wife and I, very casual and more advanced cyclists, respectively). The neighborhood itself and the vibe at the always bustling Place Republique were a fun surprise for us, we'd definitely stay here again. It is worth noting that we had a couple electrical issues involving blown fuses, resulting in difficulty using lights in the bedroom and the hot water tank temporarily not working. I suspect that user error on my part drove these issues, but Maïa was very gracious about the whole thing, having a friend come over to resolve the issues promptly, and offering a significant credit for the inconvenience. In typical European style this home does not have air conditioning. I understand that it was unusually hot for Paris during our stay, and AC would have been nice for a couple Americans unused to warm nights without it; that said, there are many doors and windows that open up, and with everything open the cooler air at night helped make things more comfortable. Still, we'd recommend bringing a travel fan or two during summer months. My wife tends to be very allergic to almost everything, and initially could tell that a cat typically lives in the home, although it had been gone for a month or so by the time of our stay. When we opened up the doors and windows for awhile her allergy issues cleared right up, which is saying something for her. Old buildings tend to present problems for my wife, and she had no issues in that respect here, which was excellent. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the balcony was just straight up fun. Maïa left us champagne to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, a gracious and thoughtful touch. Overall a great place to stay, one which I'd strongly recommend.

As Maia was on Holiday we were welcomed by one of her friends - all worked perfectely. We loved the flat and the neighbourhood - and being close to a number of metrolines in the Republique metro station. We recommend the place warmly.

We loved staying here. Maia was an extremely welcoming host. She decorates very well and created a cozy atmosphere for our stay. The apartment was clean and she kindly offered drawer space for our personal belongings. The apartment was bigger and even nicer than the photos! We loved the french charm with the modern amenities of an elevator in the building and plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The apartment is right near patisseries, cafes, wine bars, food stores, right on a popular square. Metro is around the block and has many lines that run through it. Neighborhood had activity into the night, but the apartment was quiet, making it easy to sleep on a very comfortable bed. The neighborhood didn't seem very touristy and we used the metro to get to and from the major sites. Walking to the Eiffel Tower would have taken a very long time, but the metro was fun and easy! We would definitely stay again. Good value for a good location and a great space.
