200years old cycladic stone house, restored to its original iconic architecture, with stunning terraces and 3 bedrooms on 3 floors with en-suite bathrooms. At the center of Naxos island, on the top of Filoti village hill, under mount Zeus, overlooking the beautiful village, the olive tree valley and the breathtaking sunset over the sea horizon. Unique advantage: the house's serene location on one hand, and the vivid village plaza on the other, with colorful cafes and taverns at walking distance.

The space

The natural dew of the tall thick stone-made walls makes a contrast with the bright warm greek summer. The local building materials, like the Naxian marble, stones and whitewashed plaster, the antique furniture and the traditional decoration, the various floors and multiple rooms, stairs and terraces underline the age and the character of the house in the spirit of a typical greek summerhouse.

Guest access

All house areas and a small garden will be available to guests.

Interaction with guests

A list of recommendations and tips about the gorgeous unspoiled beaches, my beloved taverns and favorite historical sites will be send along with a "personalized" marked up map of Naxos. Always glad to receive your feedback and questions about any detail or help you might need.

Other things to note

The special architecture of the house with outdoor stairs and terraces make it rather unsafe for small children

We had a wonderful weak in Filoti. Probably our favourite of 5 weeks in Greece. The house is absolutely beautiful and the 6 of us had more room than we needed. Being on three levels gave us much needed space from each other and each of us loved our rooms. The place feels so old and loved and Stelios' attention to detail is amazing. The beautiful linens and towels and pillows; everything is catered for. The kitchen is well equipped and having 3 bathrooms is amazing. The house is at the top of the village and we were able to park our hire car up above the house in a small neighbourhood car park. The walk down the stairs and alleyways to the village is so picturesque and everyday there is something interesting to see. The village of Filoti is very lively and there are plenty of great places to eat and a couple of good little supermarkets, a butcher and bakery and lots of live traditional music. Hiring a car gives you the freedom to find deserted little bays around the Island and get away from the main tourist spots. If you ever wanted to 'play house' in Greece, with plum, fig and almond trees outside your door and the sound of church bells and goats nearby, this is the place. You'll be wanting to move there, I bet. Thank you Stelios.

This is a really beautiful property with a very romantic atmosphere - perfect for if you want to spend a few days getting to know the countryside of Naxos. Stelios is a very friend and helpful host and made us feel very welcome.

This is the second year we've spent time in Stelios's slice of Naxian paradise on top of a hill in the village of Filoti. A beautifully restored villa with wild thyme and basil growing on the front step, indescribable views of Naxian mountains and village life stretching all the way down to Aegean sea and coastline and the village of Filoti itself which is so worthwhile taking the time to get to know. The leg strength you build walking the steps each down down to the village and back up again and the glimpses into peoples' homes as you wend your way back up through the narrow whitewashed alleyways. Naxos and Filoi for me equate to a certain paradise and Stelios the consummate host. We will be back. I recommend hiring a car and using Filoti as a base - it's a wonderful way in which to see all edges of the island walk the many trails the island has to offer and then a happy homebase to return to each day.

Stelios is a terrific host, and his house is wonderful. The location in Filoti is really special, and I recommend taking advantage of the quiet inland location. Handy to beaches all around Naxos, and the walk down the hill for dinner is great. Highly recommended.

This unit is located in the middle of the island away from the usual tourist spots. You feel like a local. It's situated on top of a hill with breathtaking views. The local restaurants are very hospitable. You truly feel like you live locally. This is an absolute must for anyone who wants to experience the island like a local. I strongly recommend a car.

We were looking forward to staying in the Filoti House, and it was wonderful beyond our expectations. The house is restored in such a way that it has all of the wondrous charm and elegance of the original house, yet it feels contemporary in the best sense. Each room and deck in the house is unique in feeling and character, yet it holds together flawlessly. From the morning to night the atmosphere and feeling changes so nicely with the changing light. The view of the Aegean and Paros island at sunset is spectacular. We had planned to get a car and tour the island, but it was so lovely to be in the house and the village we decided to just stay there. We felt grounded and content, able to concentrate and work on art and writing. We enjoyed a daily walk to the town center, which is an oasis of beautiful green trees, foliage, cafes, and village life. Stelios was a great host, very responsive, helpful, and flexible.

My husband and my 4-year old daughter spent three weeks at Stelios's house. It is a wonderful place; very much as described. It is at the top of the village of Filati ; one of the most beautiful and pittoresque village of Naxos, situated in the middle of the island. It is a great location to discover Naxos, its fabulous mountains, and the beaches are about 25min drive. Food at Filoti and nearby is excellent with delicious cheeses and meat. Stelios is a wonderful host : he responded immediately to all our questions and requests and gave us a very useful list of places to see and things to do outside the tourists paths. To fully enjoy the house and Naxos, it is essential to have a car ... Access to the house could be a little bit challenging (a small dusty road in the mountain for about 7 min) but it is worthy as the house is quite isolated (although in a village) and has a spectacular view (with breathtaking sunsets). The kitchen is not quite equiped to prepare complex and large meals, but good enough for breakfasts, light lunches and simple dishes. We highly recommend Stelios house where we spent a fabulous summer.

I am very glad to be part of the hosting community.
Although currently living in Athens, I have spent almost every summer of my childhood in Naxos, so I can give you useful advice on which beach, village, restaurant or bar to visit during your stay.
I probably couldn't live without the Aegean Sea, the Greek sun and the unspoiled beaches. When not working, I love travelling to the Greek islands and photographing their people and landscapes.
