This is a beautiful space on Mt Donna Buang in Warburton. Close enough to walk to the popular local cafes, your studio looks out over the mountains and is just a short walk away from the idyllic aquaduct trail in the forest. Swim in the river nearby or cycle the Donna if you dare! Below the main house, your spacious studio has a private entrance, large living space with vintage and retro features, large bedroom, private bathroom, wifi, stunning views, limited catering facilities.

The space

The overall house is a 1940s building that has been fully renovated. The studio is downstairs, the only access is via its private entry from your own small deck. Inside the living space is large with polished floorboards, furnished with 2 1950s armchairs, a 1950s breakfast table and a Georgian chaise. The large bedroom has a very comfortable queen-sized bed, a wardrobe and a separate set of drawers for your clothes. The bathroom is modern and includes a full sized bath with shower overhead.

Guest access

The house and studio are set in nearly an acre with established gardens. You are welcome to wander around the garden. I do have a bee hive so please be mindful to keep your distance and be quiet and calm when in their vicinity. I also have chickens that free range - they are very sweet and each has their own personality. The property is on the corner of Wattletree Rd and Donna Buang Rd. From your studio, if you go up the stairs toward the house and keep going past it, you will reach the Donna Buang Road driveway. Turning right you can walk up about 700 m or so and the beautiful Aquaduct trail is a lovely place to walk in the forest with the ferns, tall mountain ash, lyrebirds and so forth.

Interaction with guests

I am absolutely available to help you at any stage of your stay and request that if there is anything at all that is concerning you, or there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable, you will let me know directly. My mobile will be given to you once your booking is confirmed or you can come up to the house where the double french doors are above your studio and I will do all I can to help. Generally, I try to welcome you upon arrival where possible and I may check in with you the next morning to make sure everything is ok. I will give you space and privacy but if you would like to interact more that is also fine!

Other things to note

In your studio, there is a folder with info that may make your stay more enjoyable - beautiful places to walk, local cafe options, etc

We had the most beautiful stay in Kate's lovely space. The bed was super warm and comfy, the shower hot and the simple provisions provided greatly appreciated (including fresh milk from a local dairy). Kate was an extremely attentive and accommodating host, warming the place up before we arrived and allowing us to stay with our new baby. The town is a short drive and was so nice to venture in for a lovely dinner at Little Joe and again the following day to explore the shops and enjoy Warburton's charm. We thank Kate for a lovely stay, would definitely recommend her place to others and we will definitely rebook should we return to Warburton in the future! :-)

This is a lovely apartment in a lovely location. It is sold somewhat modestly. One expects a small place, but it turns out to be very specious. Kate was a great host...attentive but never intrusive. I thoroughly recommend.

Kate's Creative Sanctuary was perfect in so many ways. The care taken to create the space down to the smallest details was apparent from the moment I stepped into the living space. Kate was warm and so lovely to me and even picked me up from bus stop. I recommend this space to anyone wanting to rejuvenate, relax and be quiet. I hope to back again soon. Thanks Kate!

Kate has created the most lovely, naturally lit, warm, beautiful space which is most clarifying and inspiring! It's location is perfect for accessing walks as well as a leisurely stroll into town. Her attention to detail in providing you with information with a personal flair is not only handy, but homely... a friend recommending their favourite locations, which allows you to feel truly welcomed to the area.

This is a lovely place, and well situated. We walked directly from the accommodation up to the summit of mount Donna Buang. Kate was a very warm and attentive host.

Kate was one of the best hosts I have had the pleasure of staying with. Very kind and goes beyond expected to ensure our comfortability. Her lovely home is set in the most beautiful scene and conveniently close to both the town and dense Forrest. The shame is that we couldn't stay longer, perfect little getaway.

HI, I am a fine art photographer who still uses film, living in Warburton in the Yarra Valley which is an hour and a half out of Melbourne. Originally from the city (Sydney) I have fallen in love with Warburton, have been here now 7 years and truly consider this my 'home'. There is something about the mountains, the river and the beautiful community that make it unique and oh so precious.

I live 1km up from the base of Mt Donna Buang. It's a creative sanctuary, trees, birds, mountains, the river, clean air. It inspires me to be here and if you come to visit I trust it will inspire you too.

I like my coffee in the mornings and if you dare, I will make you a Turkish coffee! As well as making my own photographs (primarily for exhibition, also commissioned work), I also like to teach photography and mentor photographers. Consider a weekend of photography alongside your retreat! If you are an artist, a writer, a poet, I welcome you and know you too will find inspiration surrounds you. If you a cyclist, you will find yourself in a little piece of challenging paradise (and yes I have a safe, dry place for you to store your bike).

As a traveller I love to live the way the locals live - I like to explore the local cafes, buy food where the locals buy it, walk the streets and discover. I often let my intuition guide me and I stay open to new ways of living wherever I go. I am easy going. I love to meet new people and I also enjoy and respect their privacy.

If you stay with me as a guest, I will welcome you and make you feel really welcome and I will also give you your space to make your visit one that is relaxed and comfortable for you. There is no TV here... I consider that a bonus, This is the perfect place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of city life and experience the joy of this magical place.
