The perfect base to explore nature, wildlife and extreme adventures on the Panorama Route. Set in a tranquil farming environment with breathtaking views over the escarpment. Restaurant and pub on site, wi-fi available in a homely atmosphere. With the restaurant and pub on site there is no need for self-catering.

The space

Your deck overlooks the eastern escarpment with breathtaking views over banana farms towards the Kruger Park. Accommodation is in four garden cottages with 2 rooms en-suite each. Two of the cottages have inter-linking doors for easy access to children. Each cottage shares a deck out front with a rustic benches and tables. Rooms are en-suite, cool in summer and warm in winter. A coffee/tea station, tv, microwave and small safe are standard in all rooms for your convenience.

Guest access

An outdoor pool provides relief on hot summer days, with a pub and restaurant accessable from open walkways from the rooms. Head Chef and proprietor of Thyme Restaurant, Paul Shepheard, will delight you with scrumptious meals, and ice cold drinks. Here you can mingle with the locals, catch up on wi-fi, enjoy a game of pool or watch sport on the big screen. Children are loved and valued and special provision is made for them with a safe play area and a kiddies menu in the restaurant

Interaction with guests

Ours is a family concern where guests are treated with warmth and great hospitality by all members of staff. Thandeka or Magda will receive you and make you welcome whilst Paul will keep you entertained with local and sport stories. And of course, I should mention the 2 Jack Russels and Max, the crossbreed, that deem themselves the welcoming committee....

Other things to note

Nabana Lodge is set on 2 hectares of land, surrounded by an electric fence. Although the facilities are open to the public, entrance to the accommodation is controlled and for the use of guests only. At night, a guard patrols the premises to ensure you a safe night's rest. Guests can park their vehicle either in the large car park in front or at their rooms

We only stayed one night at Nabana Lodge, but we enjoyed it very much. The view was amazing. There is a restaurant that serves cheap and delicious meals for breakfast and dinner.

The Nabana Lodge is a great place to base yourself for day trips into Kruger Park. A short drive out of Hazyview, the grounds are secure, clean and functional. One minor negative, was that the wifi wasn't working during our stay, but we were told this was just a temporary glitch. No problems at all though

Response from Magda:
Thank you for your positive feedback, Chis. The replacement of a damaged router caused the wifi disruption and with holiday season service providers could not assist. Apologies for the inconvenience!

The accommodation is very basic but it was clean and well prepared for our visit so just what we were looking for on an overnight stop on the way back to the airport from Kruger. There are two amazing things about this place - 1. The view!! Absolutely stunning panoramic of the banana plantation and surrounding countryside and mountains directly off our verandas. It was such a lovely thing to wake up to and we were served breakfast on our verandas looking out over the view. 2. Magda was a superb host and really made us feel at home. She was waiting at the entrance when we arrived to check us in and was very welcoming and helpful. The Nabana Lodge compound felt really safe and we had a great experience. We also ate dinner at the restaurant and, while it is more a sports pub than a restaurant and the food reflected this, it was all excellently prepared and tasty. I would not hesitate to recommend Nabana Lodge to anyone visiting the area.

Encontrè el lunar por Airbnb pues necesitábamos un lugar cerca del Krugger National Parl. La anfitriona fue amable y nos recibió bien a la llegada. El lugar no es como se le ofrece en la página y necesita más mantenimiento.

Response from Magda:
Dear Renata, Thank you for taking the time to review Nabana Lodge. It is clear that we failed your expectations and for that I apologise. I believe the photos show that it is not a house, but units and will communicate with AirBNB to clarify this, in order that the accommodation match the guest's expectations. Your comments and suggestions regarding the breakfast pack will be discussed with the restaurant. All the rooms have standards size twin beds, but we can convert to king size double beds - I will add this to the listing in order for guests to decide. I apologise about the pond - we are experiencing a severe drought in South Africa at the moment and waterflow in the canal that feeds the pond is restricted. The water is used for irrigation and the bass fish in there delights anglers who test there catch and release skills. Wi-fi is only available in the public areas.
