This is a beautiful accommodation just 5 minutes up a steep hill from the harbour and 8 minutes either way from the beach/sea. There are two beaches on the island which would suit younger children, both sand, one is an 8 minute walk the other is on the other side of the island where the other village Gonje Celo is situated about a twenty minute walk, all accessible with a baby's buggy. There are plenty of little jettys or ladders around the island into the sea for reasonable swimmers to snorkel. Our boys (17,13,10) loved this, as they hadn't snorkelled before it was a novelty trying to spot the fish, sea urchins and octopus. Beware - bring sea shoes as there are plenty of spiky sea urchins around. The island is very relaxing, other than swimming, walking ( there are a few walking tracks approx 2km long ) and playing games there is not much else to do, which is lovely if you want a relaxing non commercialised holiday. Day trips to the next island Lopud entertained us for a couple of days - the port village has a beautiful church, a wider choice of restaurants and shops and a couple of sandy beaches. A ferry goes four times a day to Dubrovnik. There is only one shop on the island of Kolocep so we shopped twice at the big supermarket at Dubrovnik port. We also enjoyed visiting the old walled medieval city of Dubrovnik and you can walk around on top of the wall. Catch the 6.45 ferry and then a bus ( buy a ticket from the bus kiosk on the the left on the road outside the ferry port) 1,1a,1b,1c, 3 and 8 as well I think to PILE. That drops you at the old town gate and going early is great as you don't have to fight the masses of tourists in the heat. One visit we made there involved jumping off the rock at the side of the wall and swimming in the sea near the water polo pitch. Back to the Stone House and there is everything you need there for a comfortable stay. There is airconditioning for the summer and a wood burner for the winter. The kitchen is very well equipped, more so than my own kitchen at home. Robert (Bruno's dad) is a wonderful host who bought local fish for it and cooked it for us one night whilst we watched and chatted with him about Croatia. We cooked quite a few nights as there is only one cafe/restaurant which accommodated for all our tastes. The fast food joint is far from fast - beware. One night we waited an hour for our burgers and calamari the former I took away as the rest of the family had given up and gone back to the house and then the calamari didn't turn up, the other time my husband waited an hour and a half for takeaway pizza playing cards with our...

Exceptional in every aspect. The house is stunning, spacious and extremely clean and well kept. The view from the house, the tranquility and proximity to the beach and walking tracks suited great to our family of three and my parents (a group of five). The host, and his entire family, is however the best of all things about the place. Bruno and his family are so attentive, caring and reliable with all the questions and requests we had that it leaves you speechless. We even had fresh fish delivered! Many thanks for everything!

Our host was fantastic! He met us at the boat and helped us with our bags to the house, we were invited for a welcome drink and he shared lots of local information with us. He was on hand with answers to any questions, always very reassuring. The house was perfect. Spotless with a very well equipped kitchen. It was tranquil and we have fallen in love with Kalamota. The island is magical. We swam, ate, walked, kayaked and relaxed. The water is fantastic. The ferry to Dubrovnik for some sightseeing is a must - try and do this in the morning, when the sun is not too hot! The cable car is a wonderful way of seeing the city. Shopping at Konsum at the ferry port on your way there helps as the village shop is great but naturally the supermarket has a wider choice. We were very sorry to leave and will definitely go back. We miss the tortoises too. Thank you for a truly memorable holiday.

We have had a lovely stay at The Stone House. We were welcomed the minute we went off the ferry and Bruno's dad helped us with the luggage. Perfect! The house is very beautiful and it was perfect that it had two bathrooms. The big garden and the outside shower makes it possible to relax at home if you don't want to go to the beach one day. Bruno's dad was very helpful and always available if we needed him. Absolutely the perfect host! Only negative was that the dish washing machine was broken so we had to do everything by hand wash. Not exactly what you want when you have a vacation. Other than that, my family and I had a great stay. We were six persons staying here and it was no problem. The house was absolutely big enough for the six of us. Thank you for a very nice vacation.

We had a lovely stay on the island and in this beautiful house. It is just like on the pictures, everything new and comfortable and very clean, a quiet place and close to the sandy beach, just a short walk down the hill. Robert provided us with a lot of helpful information before and during our stay and helped us with our luggage and food when the shops were closed and we did not have the chance to buy any. Overall a great experience!
