Independent apartment, fully equiped, in early 20th century house. It holds 1 bedroom, kitchen, large living room and bathroom. Very spacious, bright and sunny with high ceilings and wooden floors. It may accomodate up to 4 people.

The space

If you are looking for an apartment with a central location when stepping out of the door puts you right in the busy stream of the city centre, the touristic bars and restaurants and the hop on/hop off bus, then this is not the right place for you. If, on the contrary, you are looking for a quiet neighbourhood where the city still boasts something truly genuine, even if you have to walk 20 min to reach the center, then this is the place for you :)
This is an apartment in a beautiful early 20th century house located in the eastern part of Porto, an area of growing interest for tourism and housing in the city. It is very close to Porto main train station (Campanhã) as well as metro and bus. The apartment has 1 bedroom with double bed. The living room is equiped with 2 sofa-bed for 2 people but recommendable for single use. It is best designed to host 1 couple but it may easily accomodate 4 people.

Guest access

Guests will have access to all in the apartment, including the possibility of laudry (just ask us!). Private parking is available for no cost.

Interaction with guests

We will interact with the guests in accordance with their wishes. We live in another apartment of the same house, one storey down. All the tennants in the house are friends so interaction is quite common.

Other things to note

When arriving please ring on the 1st floor right (the bell states 1º Dto). That is where we live and will be waiting for guests to arrive. Depending on arrival time other arrangements might be necessary but all will be agreed in advance.

Jose was a wonderful host and the location with a very short ride to downtown on the metro was great.

Lovely place in a great location in Porto! This was one of the most interesting and classy places I stayed at during my time in Portugal. José is an artist and you can find his art and his influence within the apartment and building. The place is massive. There is a single bedroom with a large bed, a gigantic living room with multiple couches and a dining room table, and a nice sized kitchen and bathroom. José was a really great guy. He kept in communication, met us on check in, and gave us great tips on restaurants and things to do in the city. Parking is private with lots of space so it's a great option for anyone traveling with a car. The tourist sites are all within walking distance too so there wouldn't be any need to use the car once you park it. All around great stay. Highly recommended!

A gorgeous large character apartment with hardwood floors and high ceilings. Tastefully decorated with a vintage flare. Situated in an area with a more local rather than touristy feel yet only steps away from the metro which can take you to central Porto and the airport. The bathroom is on the small side but the large living room and bedroom and heritage feel more than make up for it. Highly recommend having at least one meal at Casa Alexio, which is just down the street, for fresh and wonderfully prepared food. Although I never met the host he responded quickly to electronic queries and his partner was onsite to welcome and answer any questions. Highly recommend!

We couldn't have been happier with the place - beautiful architecture, Jose's artwork on the walls, the lack of noise, Jose's recommendations of places to eat nearby and the fact that you are a 25 minute walk to the center of Porto. We were confused initially from some of the other reviews in that we thought the apartment was not IN the city. It is. GREAT place!

José's apartment is full of character and charm... a great location away from the hustle and bustle of tourists, with a real feel of local Porto life!! I highly recommend staying if you have the chance!

This apartment is beautiful! You will not find a kinder host than José. He is a wealth of knowledge in terms of Porto's restaurants, sites, and advice on tripping through Portugal. The place is wonderfully elegant with very high ceilings, a great view, and fantastic art work. The surrounding area is filled with great restaurants and cafés, and is a short walk downtown or across the river to the Port cellars. This places charmed us to say the least and we cannot recommend it more.

The place is even better than the pictures! Beautiful space, and super convenient with parking and metro access. We left a shoe-box sized Airbnb in Lisbon (pictures there were better than the actual spot) for this place in Porto, and it felt like we could finally breathe. Very nice hosts as well. I could not recommend this place enough.

Hi! My name is José and Elisabete is my partner. We love being with people so our house is normally full of friends which include all our neighbours. We love our house and always find ways to change things around. I am a visual artist and work in the neighbourhood. Elisabete is an ex teacher, now in a new project producing and developing the best cold pressed oils for skin and hair care! We love too many things to describe them all, so we might say we love life!
